This and that
Random update. Scattered thoughts.
I've ordered a few books for use in my research. Here's hoping I can get some code examples from them. I'll be doing another search for articles next week, though it's hard to find decent ones. Some of them, I have no idea how they got published. The grammar just hurts. Authors, I realize that English may not be your first language, but if you're going to be published in a professional journal, get someone who knows English to proofread your work. When I have to stop and reread literally every single sentence to try to figure out what the mishmash of words is trying to say, there's a problem.
I'm starting to seriously consider going to a con sometime this year. AWA looks possible since it's fairly close. Is anyone else on my friends list planning on going there?
Also, if I do go, I'll want to update my costume. I'm thinking about making a Sogeking mask and cape and/or the Usopp Pound from paper mache or something. I don't have much experience in making big things like that, though.
The semester is over, and I'm taking the summer off from teaching. I was really proud of my students this semester. Not a single D or F. Most of them paid attention in class, more than the usual number did the homework, and they all did so well on the tests. It might have to do with the fact that it was pre-calc and not an entry level class that everyone has to take regardless of major, so I didn't have half a class full of 'don't care's to deal with. I think some of the moments that really made me smile this semester was grading exams and seeing that everyone understood everything.
For some reason, my LJ update client isn't working right. It goes to connect then never opens. I'm updating this via web browser.

I've been slacking on Naruto and Bleach, mainly because of the fillers. I don't mind occasional fillers, but I'm so sick of Naruto filler.
