I would rather have you come to the castle, Alastor. I cannot find the time to leave the grounds, and while I do not fear for my own personal safety, I know better than to test the ambitions of Voldemort and minions. Word of me in London would not bode well for us.

Gideon and Fabian we headed on separate missions at the time of the battle. Gideon had been up here in Hogwarts with me, and so he was my closer conspirator out of the two. Recently he had been spending more and more time out of the school - but I do think that's in part to his relationships with his siblings and Emmeline. I think they were purely caught in the wrong place at the wrong time - the both of them. From what I've heard Fabian stayed at Kingsley's flat, and I suspect that Gideon was visiting at the time of the attack. Perhaps the Death Eaters were after your man, Kingsley.

I will talk to Crouch, but little it will do us. The public calls for the use of unforgiveables - but they always have in desperate times. We can only hope that they will regain their sanity before any law is passed.

You keep watch for the traitor. I may have interesting news for you the next time we speak in person.

It seems prudent. When would be convenient?

Well all I have here is a mixture of notes on Arithmancy (judging by all the numbers) and Curses. It seems to be all here and accounted for, but it would be best to be cautious all the same. They were certainly the intended targets - we discovered our mole thanks to a distraction designed for Shacklebolt at the Ministry. Whether the attack was simply to get rid of the two of them, or whether it had some connection to their tasks is difficult to know.

I hope your input will do something, but I think we'll have to be prepared for the worst.

So Shacklebolt was attacked at the Ministry then. I was not aware. What puzzles me is how they were able to locate the flat where most of our Order either lives part time or visits regularly in the first place. Is it in Ministry habit of sharing personal files of employees, or is this in part thanks to that mole of yours, Alastor?

I fear we may not survive to see this conflict end, or that these children will fight our fights and continue dying while we continue to mold in our old age. If we are encouraged to play by the Dark Lord's rules, I fear for us all.

Anytime would be convenient, Alastor. My door is always open for you, and I do not sleep well as of late.

The mole might have something to do with it, but the personal files are fairly well protected - not as much as I'd like, but the Minister had some aversion to introducing a cave troll into the building. One of us could have been followed, or it could have been random chance even. We shall have to discuss those protective charms when we meet.

Personally, if I'm going to mold, I intend to mold directly in the path of His plans. And I shall become incontinent all over his strategies too - if I can help it.

I'm going to check on Shacklebolt, but I shall try to come directly afterwards - as long as no one else dies.

We must. I've talked to Meadowes about moving Shacklebolt's things from the flat. Crime scene aside, we need to get them out of that flat and to our safe house for a while. The protective charms, our policy on unforgivables, splitting up the daunting tasks left to those of us still alive... yes, I'd say we have much to talk about when next we meet.

Sounds like a fair goal.

Shacklebolt's in St. Mungos? I might just leave the castle after all.

Glad to hear it. You'll start growing cobwebs if you don't get out of there every now and again. But what's special about St. Mungo's? Where would you like me to meet you instead?

How about after my trip to St. Mungos. If you're visiting Kingsley and I'll be visiting a healer for my elbow, then we should meet. It just seems more convenient, wouldn't you say?
