Smiling Pasta

This morning I finished watching the Taiwanese idol drama, Smiling Pasta. It's so good! As soon as one episode ended, I wanted to immediately watch the next one. I couldn't always do this because the episodes are about 72 minutes long and at some point I had to sleep, but if you like idol dramas and are looking for a good one, Smiling Pasta is excellent!

I had a few problems with a few characters at the beginning, but by the end all the characters work out their major problems and become likeable. The characters I had the most issues with were Ah Zeh and Rita, but as I said by the end of the show they work out their problems. At the beginning of the series (and even at parts of the middle) these characters have trouble deciding whose side their on. Ah Zeh's sometimes a violent jerk, but at other times he's sweet and protective. Rita seems to either be a bitch or, a supportive friend. By the end of the show Ah Zeh is much less violent, less stubborn, less angry, and becomes a good friend and boyfriend. Rita becomes far more sympathetic and abandons her pettiness and is willing to help out.

The characters I mentioned above aren't the main characters. I like the main characters quite a bit. Hu Qun and Xiao Shi bicker a lot, but are very cute together. I especially love the whole "turtle girl" thing.

Here's a clip of Cyndi Wang's music video for the show's theme song. (Cyndi Wang also happens to play the main character Xiao Shi. It is an idol drama after all.)
