Tales of a time killer

I felt pretty ashamed of my race today.  My partner for my final test dumped her Filipino boyfriend this morning because he got really jealous that I was working with her.  She told me he went ape-shit and started to call her a whore, slut, a bunch of other shit, and was mumbling shit to her all under his breath.  I told her I was sorry for that but she insisted that it wouldn't have mattered who it was as long as it was another boy; he's just really that insecure.  I remember him two years ago when he and her were in my first sign language class; he wasn't a bad looking guy so it's weird.  I've known her for a while and she's definitely not a whore and would never cheat on anyone...the guy has issues.  I ended up giving her a ride to her sister's house so it was a good chance for me to apologize for my race and I told her that Filipinos have the natural tendency to be really FUCKED up in the head.   She told me "I'm stupid and I'll probably get back with him anyway."

And the world turns.

I ended up having a lengthy conversation with this girl named Laura today while I was waiting for my younger sister to finish taking the assessment test for college.  Laura had finished taking the test and was waiting for her friend who was doing the same.   She's this cute 18 year old girl with an interesting story.  Laura lives with a bunch of her friends away from her "crazy dad" and even "crazier mother."  Apparently when she was 13 she was in rehab up in Utah for being addicted to speed.  Her former best friend turned into a prostitute because of the same thing, which in turn, triggered her to start using again after finishing rehab.  She's also done coke and a handful of other substances but feels she is allergic to pot.  Now she's down to cigarettes and alcohol.  She's starting school so she can try and accomplish something positive on her own.  I let her know throughout the conversation that I cared about her well being and was glad to know that she at least got those kind of habits out of her system early on in life.  I hope she'll succeed in what she planned and I hope her life takes a turn towards positivity.  Incidentally I convinced her to quit drinking soda before we parted ways.

I finished watching all 37 episodes of the Death Note anime over the weekend and finished watching the 2nd live action Death Note movie a few hours ago.  I really, really like the story behind it all and involves some very intense moments.  I love the suspense and all the thought that went behind the story.  The movie was interesting in how they handled the story in its own way without completely shitting on the original story line; killer twist ending to boot.  It was my first time being completely hooked on a suspense type of story.  I enjoyed it very much.
