I finished teaching my first Princeton Review course this past weekend. I finished my magazine internship today. These conclusions are each a little crazy for me to think about; I remember too clearly applying -- considering applying -- to each of these positions, and the jobs themselves seem to have flown by. I can't really say I always *enjoyed* teaching, but I'm going to rationalize some of that distaste away because my classes met at 9 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays; it couldn't possibly be THAT enjoyable. It was exciting and instructive to take on the role of teacher, though - and was something I'd always wanted to do. And now I've done it! I can definitely say I LOVED going to my internship every day, and it was mostly due to the people I worked with, which I now realize is probably the single most important aspect of a job to me - the co-workers. Overall, there's no question that my choices about this summer were the right ones, all conditions considered. Happy me.
Tying things together nicely, the weather these past couple of days has been ideal - generally warm and sunny, but with a cool breeze that reminds me of early spring, my favorite time of year. Summer is ending, and I feel completely relaxed and rejuvenated, excited to start the school year and get that part of my life back on track. And I now know what I want to do next year (you know, after college), and I feel prepared to do it - a huge step in which I couldn't voice confidence at the beginning of the summer. And if things don't work out as planned, I'll sell out and go to law school of course, lolzers!!
Anyway, I'm bumming around Mansfield for a couple more weeks and enjoying the lack of time commitments. I usually don't like making individual "shout outs" (sorry, that makes me feel like I'm in the 7th grade) in entries, but, Amelia and Bridget: I don't know if one is permitted to carry alcohol onto the premises of Borderland, but if one may, I think we should invest in some red wine and carry it onto the premises, one day when the weather is nice.
