"North America's first indigenous distilled spirit" ... I would have thought that was Whisky... I always associate Tequila with South America

I do believe Agave only grows in Mexico. Whisky was made here early, but it isn't indigenous.

I took the indigenous to mean the type of Whisky... Things like Jack Daniels and Jim Bean (sour mash?) are very north American ... I don't think you get anything like that in Scotland (I've not come across anything - and that's not for lack of trying!) :)
