What a day what a day what a mindfucking day!!1
so before I go on, let me just state, whatever your religious views are, thats just fine, but don't use them to Hate
The day began quite normal... I skipped my 8am because I wanted to, went ot my 9, like no one was there; went back into the room, played guitar, went to my 11 had some activities, went to my 12 and learend about relativity and my mind was blown.
On my way to Lunch I see a cop car FLY by and was like, wtf, I see onlookers so I think "Accident?"
See my friend Sarah and was like, "wtf mate?"
She be like, "Protesters, their here to spread thier anti-gay propaganda and love of Jesus... becuase Jesus loves all except: Gays, the effeminate, Inventer of evil thigns, Thieves (Yes thats how they spelled it), and many other things.
So I went ot lunch, and peopel started to show up and were like, OMG what the fuck, and like yeah
So we left early and went back up to the protest to counter thier HATE.
We walked up normal street, Me, Kevin, and Josh Rogers all with our arms wrapped around each othe,r held some hands, and found a spot where they can see us; got some applause, and Kevin and Rogers held onto each other for awhiel while I ducked out in the back.
None of us are truly gay, Kev is bi and Rogers and I are curious, but whatever, lets get on with it.
They kept tellign us were gonna burn in hell, we kept asking why would God do this, they spread hate, we asked why?
It got pretty bad, they moved to one corner of the street instead of three; we moved in...
One friend asked them about the VT shootings, and dont they feel bad for the one gay guy that was killed... and they said, "It was a good tihng he died"
That pread like fire and the flames of the crown erupted and we counter protested back:
My frien Josh took my sign (Atheists Love All!!) and stood right next ot them with thier signs.
They eventuall Left and we cried VICTORY!!!1
But soon foudn out they'd return ot the Quad for a Q and A section... oh those poor lost souls.
But like I said, if they were just there handing out Bibles, go for it, thats fine... but they were spreading HATE, and I can't let that stand... I can't.
So we filed aroudn them in a clear semicircle and kept out distances.. I moved up close with my sign, and eventually made my way to Front and Center.
Besised a few chants of GO The FUck Home, and LEave our Campus (WE wanted them to leave, we never once told thme to die or that they are going ot hell)... we're all going ot hell by the way... especially the Sorcerors of our campus (yes that was on a Sign)
So I stood in front and center, sign that said, "Atheists Love All!!" and finally got a chacne to speak.... a good chunk of the campus (maybe 300?) and i had the floor hahahahha
I took a few steps forward, introduced myself and shook the guys hand.
"If this is what God is, like, this is what you absolutely beleive God to be?"
"Yes, this is what God is."
"Alright, so if What you beleive God to be, if this is how God Truly is; then let him Strike me down right now." I held my arms up, I did a circle, "I'm still alive." (Cheers from the crowd)
"you shouldn't tempt god"
I actually snapped, "I'll TEMPT YOU'RE GOD!" and left back into my friends... proud of myself.
It went on prety much liek that, some intellgient questions and whatnot before they finally left.
One bottle was thrown at them adn soem blown up condoms (they condemed Sex and Fornication) Oh and two chicks amde out in front of them.
It was amazing to see the entire Campus pretty much unified behind oen another and supporting alternate lifestyles and allowing peopel to be who they are. It was beautiful... they realyl was love there in that anger.
WEnt ot Dinner, ate, spread tales of our adventure... theres so much more to tell, but I cant remember it all... so much, the male blowup doll, the beachball, the angry lesbians... they even put a child in fronto f us to speak on God's behalf... the fucking lowly bastards.
Thne at 7pm, me and KEvin went ot coffee shop for Calliope Open Mic
We went on first adn did: The Freshmen (Verve Pipe), KIller Cars (radiohead), and Two-headed Boy (Neutral Milk Hotel)
Took a long break, let others play
Went back on and did: Arcade Fire's Neon Bible and Intervention... gfollow by Neutral Milk Hotel's In AN Aeroplane over the sea... Arcade Fire's Rebellion (lies), and then once again for the much larger crown Two Headed Boy.
Thne iwent on with some firneds and Did Mariner's Revenge Song (Decemberists)
OIt was a shitload of fun, and truly one of the best days of college I've ever had.
I love humanity... it can do so muhc and can really rally behind their brothers when they needed to.
