2008 Fic Meme

Jan 02, 2009 16:08

I started doing this meme so that I could look back at what I've done and think about it. But the truth is... numbers shocked me.

Since March 25th 2008, I've written 128 fics, which means 201,343 words total.

Some of those fics are drabbles, but honestly, I can't believe I've written so much for the Numb3rs fandom in only 9 months. I didn't notice it. Just... wow. Most of you know that my native language is Spanish, so I don't get to speak English unless I'm on LJ. Knowing how much I've learned from the wonderful betas I've worked with, the great writers this fandom has (bit and small authors) and the lovely, lovely readers (who not only say that they enjoyed the fic, but they also offer ideas and suggestions and give advice) has ben an overwhelmingly positive experience.

When I started writing here I had no idea how it'd turn out, of course. I thought that no one would really read my fics, which was fine because I wrote what I loved, but it also made me feel a bit lost in the fandom. So I want to thank everyone who has ever read and commented on my journal, or told me that they were enjoying my work, or even suggested ways to improve my writing.

I'll work hard to bring you more fics during 2009. I've just arrived to the fandom, I'm still a newbie and I have a lot to do and learn here, so you're not getting rid of me so easily. You'll have to stand me for a long time. Hahaha.

As all I've written is in my master list because this is my first year in the Numb3rs fandom, you can just go there. :)

Now, let's go to the meme. I built with bits taken from different memes that are out there, I hope that's all right.

2008 Fic Meme

My favourite story this year: Does WIP count? Because I'm enjoying the third series of my slash 'verse, In the Arms of the Wicked. I get to write about Ancient Egypt, to slash Ian up and introduce an OMC that will probably stick around. But if that doesn't count, then I have to say that I loved The last trial, an AU about our favorites characters being about to go to Hell - literally speaking. Oh, and I also loved Discourse of the heart; there's something very soft and geeky about it, and I'm in love with Larry/Megan in that little story.

My best story this year: Holding on to a lie. The entire series was so much fun, writing insane!Amita was a fantastic experience and I really like her a lot more now that I gave her a more interesting story line (in my opinion) than the one that's on the actual TV show.

Story most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: I don't know if I've had underappreciated stories. I believe that people have supported all of them. If I really have to say that I expected more people to respond to a single story, then I think that would be The tricks of fate, basically because it was for the 4th Annual Numb3rs Slash Ficathon and because one of the pairings was Don/Colby. I still feel that I wasn't original enough when it came to that pairing, I have to admit that. I also have to admit that I knew that I was taking a risk when I decided to write Coop/Lt. Gary Walker, since it's really weird and only a few people could maybe consider it hot. So, I don't get to say anything about that story. A huge thanks to everyone who gave it a try, the love is much appreciated!

Most fun story: Fascination, a Charlie/Ian set of drabbles that made me have fun with the pairing. It turned out well.

Most sexy story: Mmm. I haven't written that many NC-17s because I keep the good stuff for certain moments, even it means less reviews sometimes. Anyway, this could be seen as chapters of the different slash series I've written for my 'verse. Chapters would be 11: Experimental Nearness and 20: I'm ready - both of them are part of The Connections Series. I also think that 10: The Witnesses (which belong to Holding on to a Lie) was sexy and awkward because the characters didn't know someone was watching.

Story with single sexiest moment: *clears throat* That Gen NC-17 chapter about Colby baking mint chocolate brownies while being naked. Oh, yeah. Totally. Even if it was only part 1 or a longer story.

Biggest disappointment: Not being able to write more often. During the second half of the year I was really busy so I didn't get to write as much as I wanted.

Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: Not thinking about you. Definitely. Just writing about Amita taking advantage of David in a moment when they were so damaged wasn't part of the plan but it happened and looking back, it feels weird, even for me.

Hardest story to write: My het series, Silent Hunt. Really, all the het bunnies turn into slash. *facepalm*

Easiest story to write: The Connections Series. Why? Because it was my first series and it was an entire new world, so I could do pretty much everything I wanted. Now that the 'verse has grown, I have to be more careful with what I write. ;)

The best thing: Learning so much from so many people and making so many friends. Also, getting in touch with amazing readers.

And that's about it. This was fun. Thanks for being out there and for being so supportive. *sends hugs*
