Well this was one of the rare times when I had actually read the book (or graphic novel) being made into a movie before I saw the movie, but I thought overall it was pretty cool. The visuals were incredibly well done, so it really brought it to life. It was almost scene for scene. And the introduction was awesome! Way to put pages of back story into a quick sequence.

I was a little bummed out about the ending. no "aliens"??? I mean, of course they couldn't go into the character depth, paranoia, fear, moral ambiguity, comic within a comic, etc., of the novel, but I still enjoyed it. Granted I finished reading it a few hours before I went, so everything was still fresh in my mind. I think Rorschach was cast perfectly, but that's not how I pictured his voice. Was too much like the new Batman's voice. I pictured it more calm spoken and matter of fact.

What did you think? I think if you hadn't read the novel it would've been confusing as shit.

i know. i hated the ending when i first read it but then the whole time during the movie i was like I WANT TO SEE A GIANT SQUID. but it didnt happen. but i think the ending in the movie made more sense. and i LOVED rorschach. he rocked. but you're right, his voice was a little too raspy. however, im retarded and read the book again too right before the movie so i was constantly analyzing how accurate it was so i kind of got annoyed but overall it was incredibly accurate and i enjoyed it.

my boyfriend went with me and hadnt read the book and really liked it so apparently its not that confusing haha.

ALSO i was upset not to see the comic within the comic. i loved that part. but my friend said its gonna be on like the dvd or something. i also kind of wish they showed rorschach being the guy who said the world was gonna end cause i thought that was kind of funny.

Yea, the comic within the comic was incredible, the way it corresponded with the main story. Well they showed Rorschach with the sign, but they didn't really connect the dots in the movie that it was him. Guess that was just a reward for people who read it. I think they had filmed alot more content and had to edit it for time reasons. Like how they had the New Frontiersman at the end, but never mentioned it throughout the movie. And they showed the newsstand guy and the comic kid at the end too.

have you seen this? It's pretty hilarious: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDDHHrt6l4w

The monster squid would've been great. The first few pages of Chapter 12 wouldn't have been possible without it, and those were some fucking intense pages. I think an alien attack is more world unifying than an attack by Dr. Manhattan...

haha that videos really goofy. i kind of feel like the ending in the movie makes more sense because its more long term, because theres always going to be that fear that dr. manhattan will do it again you know? but i kind of feel like an alien attack wouldn't unite everyone forever. but seeing a giant squid fuck up manhattan would have been intense.
