A curious look at St. Jerome...

by Jan van Eyck:
- Hey, here is such a nice, smart guy. He is engaged but I definitely can come in. It's such warm, domestic feeling here. Wow, pleasant feeling and intention to study. I wish to immerse into the world of doing serious stuff. I am inspired! St. Jerome, may I join you, sit quietly nearby and do my study? No, I am not scared of this nice pet. A lion?! Oh, so pretty pussy lion. No, no, won’t bother me at all. Thanks.

by Domenico Ghirlandaio:
- Oh, this aged man is doing serious work! Wisdom and experience are on his face. Well, he agrees to answer your questions. But, please, do not play fool and do not ask crap. He is a good person and won’t reprimand you, but really does not like to spend time for silly stuff. No, he will not display his real feeling. Just know about it and respect. Approach him. He knows much and will share it with you if you are ready to listen and learn.

by Durer:
- A magic room. Something is mesmerizing about it. Is it due to this strange animal that reminds of a lion? Or light? The man is not a wizard but there is some wizardry around. Is it due to his deep, profound knowledge about the world? That's why he is so calm and let things be where and what they are... Be quiet! Do not bring a sound to this air. Do not touch anything. Look at, then go. Leave with strange feelings and thrilling memories in your heart. One day a small detail, a tune, an object would awake those memories and feelings. You'll enjoy it... You will definitely enjoy it… your childhood...

by Lucas Cranah:
- Oops, it's a busy man. Really busy. It's a businessman. Shows off his wealth. So wealthy that has time to enjoy acting a scholar. Purchased exotic animals to entertain him and show off. Modern furniture... Way too modern. Perhaps ordered from a famous designer... but too cool as for my taste. No intention to use for any study. May be for meetings? I see, he is getting ready for the role of a CEO!
Fucking hell of animals. Someone should clean after... They must leave a deal of shit...

by Caravaggio:
- This man is too smart for average people. And too occupied. Better not to disturb him without a strong reason. Otherwise he will point at wasting his time and you will feel as an intruder. I’d better read his work later, when it is published. A-a, the scull is perhaps for inspirational thoughts about vanity in the world! Is it novel? Sorry, sorry, did not mean to disturb... just a thought... Disappear…

by Antonello de Messina:
- Oh, Lord! This man wannna look like a real scholar. He thinks that his cold, ignorant appearance is an attribute of the scholar! That this hidden arrogance to 'low' crowd outside his fancy apartment contributes to it. Yes, this apartment definitely helps to distance from a mob. No one would approach him; no one would ever step over a threshold. Well, may be an invited valuable guest only… This man is posing to uneducated people who glance from a remote spot. A precious book is in front of him. An expensive book, that worth his attention. For a while. But as soon as viewers are away, he stands up, leaves his desk, goes to the window and stands still, staring out. What is he for, this lonely, haughty man in his studio that is more of a throne hall? No, he can not deprive himself by living in a lower status building... Thick-headed crowd, what it understands of life values!
