We're missing a few people. Here I thought I could trust them.

[A lie. He had been waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting until it was time for them to go. Them being candy-ass and him. Just what was Stein thinking in having them work together? Ah, like he cared. Someone was going to be a body-shield. So many angry folk and now they had to go walk through them. It sounded like it would be some real fun. Pushing off of where he had been leaning, he gave a light tip of the head to the good doctor before waving his hand at Mukuro to get him following. Not much else was said until they were a bit away.]

So, do your hips not lie?

[Like there was anything else to talk about on their long walk. Very annoying game of eye-spy? Yes. Let's do that next.]

[ It's not, in fact, because Mukuro has nothing better to do, nor out of some altruistic reasoning, but rather that if the events leading up from the time all occupants of Nuadoria were sent home- the moon mutilating itself and popping out an eye on the surface, and to now, here, on the mountain range were nothing more than a false front to something else, he would very much prefer to be rid of it, and even back in the city itself. Because this isn't entirely real nor fake.

Even if he does find himself in the company and working with a man who quite possibly would rather throw him off the cliff side than work with him- Mukuro finds it amusing, to be honest, and only curls his lips in a mock smile at Dan before strolling along.

And pauses. ]

Why, I didn't think you were the type.

I'll take that as a "yes."

[His shoulders gave a slight shrug as he continued walking. The barrel of the gun occasionally tapped on his neck at odd intervals, no real rhyme or reason that could be found other than to once more try to find a way to kill the boredom which he felt. At least when he was under Harman's command, he was unconscious the time between jobs. Waiting was annoying.

His gaze drifted to their familiars.]

You have the faggiest flamingo, ever. That's supposed to show your true self? Do you want to be pretty?

Tsk- you shouldn't take anything for guaranteed.

[ Oh Dan, you crack him up- no, really, Mukuro's laughing like there's no tomorrow, shoulders shaking and everything, the works, before stroking the flamingo's vibrant feathers (it looks a little pissed off, maybe Dan won't want to get too close). ]

Would you like to know its name? [ Chrome named it for him, after all, and Dan should be one to talk. Mukuro eyes the- the what? The man in a red bondage suit with a ball gag stuck in its mouth and the eyes stitched shut? ] If our familiars say anything regarding ourselves, what kind of statement is yours trying to make?

[ Oh, wait. ]

[ he'd been told to go to melone base.

except.
for some reason...
melone base was not there. rather, a giant, gaping crater in the earth where he could have sworn melone base had once stood was there. stumbling backward and wide-eyed, he could only stammer unintelligibly for the moment. if byakuran had sent him there knowing the base had been destroyed? ... uh-oh.

so he did what any self-respecting mafia captain would do.
he ran.]

Where the fuck are we?

[Somehow, it felt like they weren't where they were supposed to be. The barrel of the gun slammed against the back of his own neck almost enough to bruise. Pivoting on his heel, he glared at Mukuro.]

You got us lost.

[His gun leveled to take his frustration out on the darling little princess when he noticed that someone was running. The barrel shifted position to fire a shot at the runner's legs. It was an automatic reaction for him -- see something running and make it stop to find out what was going on. And he would be damned if he was going to chase them down if they got too far. There would be no blood if the bullet hit; all blood would float in the air to slide into beaker which Dan kept on his person instead.]

Oh look, someone who can tell us where we are.

[His tone was amused as he headed in the direction of their new best friend.]

Lost? Not at all--

[ Oh- look, they're back where they started- or where Mukuro started. Roughly, anyway- he doesn't remember seeing the destruction that was the remains of the Melone Base in Japan, but this- this is definitely Japan, and that is definitely someone familiar that Dan just shot. The awkward running gait, the consequent noise- ]

-ah. That was somewhat unnecessary. I'm sure he would have told us exactly where we were, if you had only asked. In fact, I could have told you so myself.

[ But better Shouichi than him, so Mukuro's just going to stroll on over there. ]

[ somewhere in the (not so distant) distance he thought he had heard someone. this only prompted him to run faster, that is, until there was a very loud pop and he found himself not running anymore. it takes a moment for this to really sink in, but once it does -- OH MY GOD HE KNOWS HE'S GOING TO KILL ME JUST LIKE HE SAID THE LAST TIME and with some whining and some struggle he's back on his feet.

though at the sight of rokudo mukuro, he stumbles and reacquaints himself with the ground.

while it wasn't who he had expected, this was probably the second worst person to meet in this situation.

so either way he was still probably going to die.]

Aa -- g-get away from me!

[ it was about then he noticed that mukuro wasn't alone.
oh god he's gone and made a friend. ]

[ No goddamn moon visit for him. This expedition had 'scumbag' and maybe 'Spanish Prisoner' written all over it and Epsilon is gonna keep to his fucking self.

Of course, after the initial ten minutes of panic the AI calmed considerably. Completely unaware as he is that Wash knows anything about the plan, and failing to inform even the least of his companions that he's potentially being hunted (pfft, like they were actually gonna send someone) Epsilon floated off distractedly to go entertain himself elsewhere. Yes, him and his baby blue ox-calf-moo-thing.

He sighs. This is kinda tranquil, actually. Donut had planted flowers around Red base while they were gone. The lightish red posies are coming in nicely.

The ox certainly likes them. ]

[Ah, so that's what that asshole on the communicator meant. What the fuck was it? Floating box? Did he really care? Not really. His gaze drifted over to the ox as he shrugged his shoulders. Nice that the familiars were about and could let him know who it was that he was supposed to nab. But that thing looked like it would be a little bitch and fly out of range. Shooting it down and destroying it would get Stein pissed -- plus, but wouldn't get him to the moon -- negative.

Looking to Mukuro, Dan gave an actual polite gesture of 'wait' as he turned to head back the way he came.]

I'll be right back.

[Time to go and hunt down a fucking butterfly net.]

[Returned with a butterfly net. Do you see this face, Epsilon? It's one that says -- what is this shit? Rests it over his shoulder in his usually free hand. He sighs only after he swings to catch the floating whatever in the net and holds it against the ground.]

Hey. Let's go the moon, Leonard Church!

[Well, there he is, minding his own business. Definitely not bothering anyone. Especially since Naruto is quickly making his way toward the odd mountain that seemed to have appeared out of nowhere at the moment of his return. He's been meaning to investigate that thing since he first saw it. And he isn't just running there. No. What's the fun in that? Naruto is hopping from branch to branch like a monkey. He's fairly easy to notice due to sheer... orange.

A small red fox is hanging onto his shoulder for its dear life, rather unhappy with its treatment.]

[ Ah- well, the crowds are just forming here, aren't they? Mukuro sincerely hopes that the odd, fluorescent attire isn't meant in any way to camouflage, because that bright flash had been so very out of place he had spotted it almost instantly. And he leaves Dan and poor Shouichi with a cheery goodbye, before slowly strolling towards the amazing jumping- orange spot. ]

[Hm?] Oi! [The amazing orange spot calls out as it lands on the ground in the most ninja- like manner and runs the rest of the way up to the person Naruto noticed. Both the boy and the fox, that thankfully survived the trip, peer curiously at the person in front of them.]

Who are you? [He mastered that conversation skill like a pro.]

[ Mukuro turns, tilts his head to regard the boy, one hand absently stroking the flamingo beside him, smoothing along the feathers. Really, youngsters these days have no manners whatsoever, do they? He quirks his lips, in a parody of a smile, and says: ]

Oya, are we all out of manners today?

[ Despite the continuous bitching and whining and flippant remarks and on whole, not so smooth journey back up the mountain, Mukuro, along with his two (not so) lovely human companions, and three less humanoid tag-alongs finally reach the top. Of course- it probably didn't go as smoothly as planned, seeing as how Mukuro's laughing like the world is ending and his flamingo's also making similar chuffing sounds.

The fog is fitting, he thinks, breaking through swathes of it, barely making out a figure in the distance, and then the voice following it, and he tilts his head, flicks a glance at the other two. ]

Oh? It seems we're a little tardy.

[ somehow they had made it to the top of the mountain. really, shouichi had no idea how, especially taking into consideration how many times he'd thought to throw himself off. by this point the pain was all consuming. with absolutely no color left in his face and his stomach turning consistently with stress-induced nausea, the expression he wore was perfectly morose.

he really didn't know how he was still alive.
nor did he think he really wanted to be alive much longer.

he drove an exhausted glare into mukuro. that laugh was going to echo between his ears forever. ]

th-that's surprising considering the pace you set..

[At the very least, there wasn't any blood. Each drop seemed to go to the beaker which Dan kept hidden. His only contribution to the trip was telling Stein about Shouichi so that the man could get ready to tend to him. Wasn't that nice of him? Here he was hoping that there wouldn't be enough time and they would have to amputate. Even more fun when they got to the moon. Somehow, constantly saying it, it got even more ridiculous. Each ridiculous statement after the other was lightening or darkening his mood.

Even Dan wasn't quite sure.]

Stop whining. Or well give him another leg to operate on.

[His constant threat as they walked up the mountain.]
