Author's Notes: 30_confessions has been calling to me lately, and I'm really wanting to get those 200 or so drabbles I have to do knocked down in the next few weeks. Or at least a good portion. Enjoy!
It's always a contest with them. Always. Maybe it's only in their natures, but Roxas can't help but smile at the wild grin Axel wears each time they clash.
"So, Roxas, ready to give up yet?" the older Nobody whispers heatedly as Keyblade and chakram check each other's movements.
"As if, Axel." A great heave and Axel is thrown off-balance, staggering back.
There's something almost unbearably lovely about Axel like this. A kind of untameable beauty in his movements, the fierce joy in his eyes. If Xemnas believes that he controls the fire wielder, he's sadly mistaken. Roxas knows better. Axel is as unpredictable as his element; it's part of his appeal.
"Catch me if you can!" the blond taunts, leading Axel along after him. He can see easily how Axel got his Organization title when they come together like this; the older Nobody treats combat as a whirling dance, flames erupting all round to lead his partner in the deadly steps.
"I've got you now," Axel laughs as he finally backs Roxas into a corner, Cheshire Cat grin wide on his lips. "Nowhere to run . . . ."
Roxas smiles back, a devious glint in his eyes; and suddenly he dives onto Axel, his Keyblades arcing to smash against the other Nobody's chakrams, sending them spinning out of his startled opponent's grip. In an instant Axel is pressed into the ground, a Keyblade at his throat, Roxas settling atop him and purring into his ear, "Got you . . . ."
Axel chuckles softly. "Not bad, Roxas . . . . all right, you win."
Roxas grins, and opens a portal beneath them. As they land on Axel's bed he replies, "Good. Now for the other end of our deal . . . ."
"That determined to top me, Roxas?"
"Shut up. You like it."
