Summary: Rufus and Elfe catch up over lunch.
Rufus sighed quietly, organizing a few of the papers he'd had scattered on his desk, leaving them in a neat pile before he stood. It was past noon by this point, and high time for lunch. Dark Nation, who had been curled up on the floor beside his desk chair stirred, and Rufus gave him a brief pat on the head. He gave a quick glance to the animal's food and water bowls, making sure they were sufficiently full, before making his way to the door.
"I'll be back." Dark Nation peered at him, a bit disappointedly, before stretching and returning to his place on the floor. Rufus smiled, very vaguely, and closed the door. Around the office, and on the way to and from his apartment, he was in the habit of taking Dark Nation with him everywhere, but lunch was a different matter. Animals and restaurants didn't tend to mix well.
As he locked the door of his office, he caught a bit of motion out of the corner of his eye, in the direction of Veld's office. He turned toward the figure, expecting to find Veld, but was instead met with a familiar yet unexpected face. His eyes widened briefly in surprise, but he wiped the look off his face before drawing any more attention to himself.
"Elfe." It was more a statement than anything else.
