He'd always prided himself on being somewhat intuitive, of being able to feel when someone was watching him - that tell-tale prickling of eyes at the back of his head. But he hadn't felt a thing, hadn't even thought it a possibility. That pissed him off, more than just a little. Just because ShinRa seemed, to the general public, to have lost most of it's steam must have let people think they were gone ( ... )

Rude raised an eyebrow at Reno's question and playful shove.

"You know I don't like talking." He really didn't, and beyond that, both of them knew he came off far more impressively as the sort of big muscly shadow looming over Reno's shoulder. "Never said I was complaining," Rude replied to Reno's retort at the 'more practice' comment. Truth was Reno was exceptionally good at talking his way out of things, or into things as the case may be, and he had gotten Rude out of trouble on a number of occasions. But he couldn't help but poke fun at his chattier partner every once in a while.

Rude had no particular need for a mental check for his weapon, given that he generally fought with his fists, but he noted the presence of the same safeguard weapons that Reno had, and the vial in question, safely tucked in a hidden pocket of Rude's jacket and padded with a handkerchief to make sure the thing didn't break.

"Yeah, I've got it," he told Reno. "And Braden works."
