That is really a great icon, Tifa tacit_turk April 20 2009, 19:58:48 UTC
Tifa's words registered in Rude's ears, but he made no reply other than a very small nod at the truth of the last statement. Hounds were everywhere, milling about the street, skirting around the prone bodies of the few he and Tifa had already gotten to. No time to celebrate what little progress they had made against the onslaught. He swung to the side, dodging a lunge of sharp teeth and catching the creature before it landed with a punch that sent it flying and then skidding along the ground where it knocked one of its buddies off its feet.

There was a pause long enough to catch a couple breaths and call, "You okay?" to Tifa, and then another hound was on him. So much for a quiet evening...

[[OOC: Are we saying this happened at the end of this, and this is what got Tifa and Rude outside and eventually allows Hojo to sneak away? (Which would make sense to me) In which case, the time would be day 45, evening.]]

Kira's eyes flickered briefly to Tifa, Rude, and the hounds dead around them, before she threw herself into the fray. A beast leapt at her, snarling, and she caught its teeth on one of her blades. A quick twist later, and she slammed it to the ground with the other blade through its side, then moved on to the next, setting it and its fellow on fire.

"Where did they come from?" she called over the sounds of battle.

[OOC: Works for me, will edit that now.]

Rude fought off the nearest hound, and the next that came, earning himself another brief pause. He shot Tifa a nod and a slight smile. The question had been as much out of habit of fighting alongside someone else as it was out of concern for Tifa's safety. Tifa could take care of herself, he knew. There wasn't much cause for worry.

He glanced then at the other woman who had joined the battle. She looked familiar, and he was pretty sure he had seen her before, though he couldn't at the moment place where.

"Have we met?"

[[OOC: I assume it makes sense for them to have met at some point but not too significantly? Or should he more definitely know who she is?]]

"Might be time to do a little monster hunting then..." Kira murmured to herself in acknowledgment of Tifa's words. There was a brief pause in the attack as the remaining hounds backed off slightly, and she took a moment to look around. There were bodies all around them, which seemed to be putting the others off for the moment, so she straightened and nodded to Tifa and Rude.

"You might have seen me around. I was in SOLDIER years ago..." She grinned at him, adding, "Kira Ashikira's my name."

"Mine's Rude," he returned, though he immediately realized she probably already knew that, if not by former association then because Tifa had said it a moment before. The monsters seemed to be retreating now, a few scared off by Tifa's glare (which amused Rude tremendously), and a few more following their lead. He picked up a nearby rock and hurled it forward, scattering the beasts that were left.

"Don't know," he replied to Tifa's question, "Still plenty wrong with the planet, I think." Monsters showing up seemed pretty normal by comparison to people coming back to life and anything else weird going on.

Kira nodded, watching the monsters retreat with a slightly smaller but no less satisfied grin. As an afterthought, she tossed a few fireballs at the retreating hounds, watching them yelp at the flames until they were out of sight.

"Rude...of the Turks, right?" She started to put her weapon away, then realized she was still dressed for the cafe and simply held it by her side. "Could be the planet or Sephiroth..."

Rude kept an eye on the hounds as the last of them ran off into the distance, letting his silence be an answer to Kira's question. He was still in uniform. He figured not denying that he was a Turk was as much confirmation as a nod.

"She makes good food," he tacked onto the end of Tifa's introduction, finally turning his attention fully back to the two women again. He didn't bother to respond to the comment about saving the planet, deciding he didn't have anything too useful to say. He understood the significance, but he had never had the adamant concern for the issue that Tifa did. They had been enemies over it once, after all. Admittedly, that was just him doing his job, but his job made it difficult to have a very strong opinion about anything.

As for how many times people needed to save the planet, he tended to think it was more that the planet hadn't really been saved yet. At least at this point Rufus seemed to be trying to work on it.

Tifa Lockhart... Kira nodded at the name and simple introduction. She remembered Tifa, of course; she and quite a few SOLDIERs had been stationed at Junon when AVALANCHE had been captured there. And then there were the attacks on the Shinra Building by the group, and the destruction that had followed, the loss of her fellow SOLDIERs, and eventually the end of Midgar...

But it had been a while since she had looked on that with any sort of resentment. After all, Shinra and SOLDIER had definitely been in the wrong, and Tifa in particular had been hurt by it.

She shook off the urge to apologize and said, sounding slightly flustered, "I run a little cafe a few streets over...kind of forgot to mention."

And somewhere off screen Hojo has/is escaped/ing? tacit_turk April 23 2009, 00:02:37 UTC
Rude gave Tifa an understanding nod as she turned away to text Marlene. At least they'd been able to put the girl in a safe place before heading out to fight. He wondered what was going to happen after all of this disruption. Was there still some plan for him to meet whoever was staying at the Seventh Heaven? Well, whatever. He turned his attention back to Kira.

"Thanks for your help," he muttered. He and Tifa might have been able to fight off the pack on their own, but he didn't discount the influence of a few well-placed fireballs in getting the remnants of the group to turn tail and run.

"Mm, I wouldn't say rivals..." Kira grinned. "I've heard people raving about Seventh Heaven."

As Tifa turned away, she nodded to Rude. "Can't let them hurt anyone else in the city..." she murmured.
