Emotion Sickness

Feb 23, 2009 23:36

Who: Rod (rookiemyass) and Yuffie (idkmybffvince)
When: Right before Yuffie leaves for Gongaga
Location: Edge
Rating: PG-13 probably since Rod has a mouth on him
Summary: Rod meets up with Yuffie before she leaves for Gongaga, to thank her for rescuing him from imminent emotude.

Let’s face it: if anyone else had told him they got motion sickness, he probably would have made fun of them. Not viciously, but there would definitely have been a series of cleverly placed comments and verbal jabs directed towards whoever. For some reason though, with Yuffie it was different. He actually felt bad for her. And it definitely wasn’t because he liked her, or anything like that. Definitely not. He said for her to use his first name because this whole coming-back-from-the-dead thing was giving him a fresh start. Yeah.

But anyway, Rod was currently leaning nonchalantly against the side of a building, watching people meander past while he waited for the ninja girl at their designated rendezvous point. He had a small plastic bag in his hand and looked like he’d made some sort of failed attempt at making his hair fashionably messy. Mostly, it just looked like he’d had a bad night (which he had, but that totally wasn’t the point). There wasn’t anything he could really do about his dust-covered suit. The underground materia ring he’d found himself involved in as of late was mostly based on trade amongst the camp dealers, since gil was still fairly hard to come by. He had a little money, but mostly he’d used that to buy alcohol feed himself and rent a shower every now and then (filthy bastards made you pay for everything these days, wtf. Stupid freaking post-apocalyptic Midgar. He would never get used to calling it Edge…), so thus far he hadn’t really had a chance to invest in any new clothing. Oh well.

Idly, he wondered if Yuffie would actually show. She didn’t seem like the type to stand him up (and it wasn’t like this was a date or anything), but then he didn’t really know her. Maybe she wouldn’t be able to get away before she had to leave for Gongaga. Or maybe she had more important people she actually knew to meet up with. Not that he really cared. At all. He would just have been pissed she’d wasted his time telling him she'd show up when she really wasn't going to. He had places to be and drinks to be downing, damnit, but here he was waiting for her slow ass to show up.

Maybe he should call her. Just to check if she was coming. If she wasn’t, he could just leave.

Yeah, he should call her.

No, he shouldn’t, that’d be weird. Like he really cared if she showed up.

Which he totally didn’t.

At all.

(P.S. If anyone can tell me what nineties band my silly log title comes from, you get a cookie! XP)
