A block'n a half away?

When Aerith had called Zack, she didn't expect him to be so close by. Looking at her room, she realized that she hadn't really taken care of it like she should have which was no surprise considering the amount of knowledge she had gained about current events. Dishes were still in the sink that begged to be clean and her bed with sheets wrinkled, most of which were laid on the floor.

Briefly closing her eyes and taking a deep breath, Aerith got to work, deciding to start with the bed. Lifting the sheets up, the conversation she had with Zack replayed in her mind. She still couldn't believe he was so relaxed about talking to her again. One day Zack is helping her to sell flowers and the next? Gone. She sent him 89 letters. Not one reply. She knew something had happened to him. Something that made him not be able to answer his phone. Something that made him unable to come see her. Something that had had torn the two apart. She hoped and dreamed for seven years. Seven years. After meeting Cloud and leaving Midgar, she remembered traveling to Gongaga and meeting Zack's parents. When they didn't know where he was, Aerith figured what had happened.

Placing the circular shaped pillow with yellow flowers embroidered on the edges on the bed, Aerith took a step back and admired her work. She really hadn't done anything like this since living with Elmyra. Her finger traced upon the embroidery as she smiled. She didn't realize how much she missed her church - her lilies. They were gone, but she was happy. To think of all the good that came from it - the water sitting under her flowerbed - was the very thing that made her flowers grow and cured the Geostigma that had plagued the world just a few years ago.

Maybe...maybe I'll start again. A new flower garden of sorts!

Walking over to the sink, Aerith turned on the faucet and began to rinse the dishes with soap and water. All the housekeeping made her remember when she would clean and take care of the house with Elmyra. When things were actually simple.

Aerith let out a small chuckle. Were things ever really simple? Shinra. AVALANCHE. Terrorist attacks. Turks. Kidnappings. Explosions. All those words were thrown around repeatedly. Or they used to anyways. Life seemed to have calmed down considerably and everyone seemed to be working towards a common goal.

All the reminiscing seemed to have passed the time by - all the dishes were washed and dried, the bed made. Now all that was left was for the arrival of her guest.
