heechul is taught the difference between giving up and letting go.

When Heechul finds out about Hankyung’s lawsuit, his initial reaction is to scream and break something, but he doesn’t. He surprises everyone by calmly going to his room and locking the door without saying a word to anyone else. He’s half-tempted to start crying as if this is some sort of cliché movie break-up, but he doesn’t.
He immediately sends Hankyung, who had gone back to China, a million texts a minute. He doesn’t remember when he’s become such a girl, when Hankyung has affected him this much, but he has his phone in his hand and he’s trying everything he can to come in contact with Hankyung.
Suddenly, he stops, and realizes how insensitive these texts seem.
A few hours later, Heechul shuts down his CyWorld.
It half surprises the members when Heechul suddenly starts crying during Super Show II after being reminded of Hankyung so many times.
They see his pride crumble and disintegrate at the speed that oil and water separate; they try to hold themselves together but eventually find that they cannot.
He finds himself a little more sensitive, a little more hurt, and a little more vulnerable.
When Hankyung finally calls him back, Heechul wonders whether he should swallow his pride and answer the phone or pretend not to be desperate and ignore the call.
He listens to his heart and answers the phone, trying not to make himself sound too excited.
“Hello, Hankyung.”
“Heechul.”
It’s silent for a few minutes so both of them could think of something to say, something to make the situation seem a lot better.
“I don’t miss you.” Heechul tells Hankyung, and he can hear Hankyung chuckle because he knows that Hankyung knows him so well, that even though Heechul loves him, he’s still Kim Heechul, and Kim Heechul hardly ever gives into anyone.
“But I do.”
“Do you love me?” is what Hankyung asks Heechul the next time he calls.
“I hate you.”
Heechul can almost see the wistful smile on the Chinese male’s face, like he’s in front of him and they’re not having this conversation over the phone, but in person.
“I hate you more.”
The good thing about having phone conversations is that you can hang up when you don’t want to hear any more.
The third time Heechul hears from Hankyung after the lawsuit is the last. The last phone call begins like the first, with awkward greetings and tough questions.
“Just friends don’t do this.”
“Don’t do what?”
“Hurt each other.”
That, Heechul cannot deny.
“Then don’t you wish we’d fall in love?”
“All the time.”
