(no subject)
Before I start this, I need to quickly explain my job. I work for Virgin Mobile, taking customer service calls for them-NO selling or outbound calling, thank goodness. So anyhow, I got a couple of interesting calls the last two days.
Me: *in usual greeting* This is Todd with Virgin Mobile, how can I help you?
Caller: I like men.
Me: *didn't hear him, as he was quiet* I'm sorry?
Caller: I like men.
Me: Oh, cool. Do you have a question about your Virgin Mobile account? (his information was on my screen)
Caller: Do you like men?
Me: As friends. If you don't have any questions about your account, I'm afraid I'll have to disconnect this call.
Caller: Ok, but I have one more question. Do you have a hairy chest?
Me: ...That's privileged information. Have a great day! *disconnects call*
I got him again ten minutes later. He sounded serious this time, asking me if there were any notations on his account. You see, reps must make small notes for each call they receive, and those go onto the caller's account record. So I looked, and found several notes from other reps who talked to this guy, saying things like "Customer made lewd comments", yatta yatta yatta. I can only imagine what some of those lewd comments were to other people. The last one stated that the rep got her supervisor to speak to the guy, and the sup told him that his account would be disconnected, if he made more prank calls. I took that as the reason he'd called me and asked about notations. He seemed rather distressed at seeing his stupid pranks noted, then quickly left.
The next one happened yesterday. A girl called to get her old account put onto a new phone. We needed the new phone present to do this, but she said her sister would be home in 20 minutes with it. I advised her to call back when her sister got home, at which point she said...
Caller: You sound kinda young.
Me: Oh...I'm 22.
Caller: Really? You sound 18.
Me: Yeah, everyone else says that too. It's only a few years below my age, and 18 doesn't sound pubescant or anything, so I don't mind.
Caller: The reason I mentioned it was because my sister's single. And you have a cute voice.
Me: O_O;; (she can't see me making the face, of course) Oh...I'm attached. But I'm really flattered by the thought ^^;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
By the end of the call(we ended it soon after that last comment), I think my face might have been a little flushed. I've had other crazy people hit on/have crushes on me before in crazy ways before(erm...this only pertains to certain people...I don't consider Bogi, Lucy, Chelsie or Devon crazy), and this was one of the weirdest. Regardless, I've always found it somewhat flattering, despite feeling it is undeserved, which would be why my face heated up
