Day Eight: Favorite Subject
Potions
From the moment I read Harry Potter, I wanted to take this class. My only initial hesitation was Snape, but after I realized I’d probably be a Ravenclaw I decided I wouldn’t have to deal with all his wrath, in any case. And then Slughorn came in the sixth book and I swore I’d do anything to get into the Slug Club! But really, Potions fascinates me. In World of Warcraft, most of my characters are alchemists for the same reason. The idea of mixing and brewing ingredients to make something really powerful is brilliant to me. Plus, I am not the least bit aggressive (I learned this from all my failed attempts at taking Martial Arts), so I doubt I’d be good at anything that involved combat. I’m more the type to be cooking up something on the sidelines, probably a Felix Felicis to get me through my Defense Against the Dark Arts O.W.L.!
On a semi related note, the other day I was debating which classes I would’ve signed up for in my third year. I’m thinking Divination and Ancient Runes, though I can already read runes so maybe that would be a waste. I couldn’t read runes at 13, though, so maybe not! My second choice would’ve been Care of Magical Creatures.
