I went to a party on Saturday night. A family friend turned 21. The whole family was meant to go, but mum was doing night shift so it was up to me and dad to represent the family. Jess doesn't really count there as the friend whose party it was is her best friend.
It's kind of interesting going to a party when you are not mobile. They set me up in a chair in the common area, with another chair to put the leg on, and I felt very obvious. I also couldn't socialise. Not that I'm good at it in the first place. But you know, I couldn't go up to people and say hi, or mingle, or anything. I had to wait for other people to come to me. Luckily I had dad with me. He stayed by my side pretty much all night. I do not recommend going to parties where you can't walk around or have an obvious injury or disability or something that people can talk about, cos that's all you end up talking about. If I had a dollar for every time I said "Oh I snapped my achilles playing netball" that night, I wouldn't ever need to babysit again. And then if I had a dollar for every time a person shuddered or recoiled when I said that, I'd never need the pension again either.
Anyway, that's boring. Tomorrow I plan to sleep a bit in the arvo, cos the tennis is on early - in exactly 5 and a half hours. 6.30am, the broadcast begins. Then Tuesday my mate Scott is coming over to entertain me, cos we are both injured but he can drive and walk and stuff. He is a drummer and developed really bad RSI in his right arm, and is out of action longer than I will be, which really sucks for him.
Weeoo. i am going to sleep now.
