I've been making a concerted effort to be at least moderately informed when it comes to this years election. It's sort of a first for me as I've barely been bothered to vote since Clinton ran years and years ago. I'm also sort of proud of the fact that I was a Perot supporter well before there were really any other people that would actually have the audacity to go against the Republicans and Democrats.
I make no bones that I don't like either of the two major candidates in this election. I know they're saying different stuff from different platforms, but at this point, I barely recognize the difference and I really have some issues believing that it makes an ounce of difference to us folks in the trenches like you and me. It almost strikes me that politicians live in politician land where, we, the constituents are, at best, a last ditch excuse to go against party line.
I honestly believe that our founding fathers would beat these jackasses with a damn stick and tell them to try it again.
I'm not saying the founding fathers were all that and a bag of chips by any means. We're all men and women and we're all fallible. But this collection of rich dorks at least tried.
I know where I think we need to go with this, but I'm not willing to even pay enough attention to even give it real voice yet, but I challenge everyone that reads my words to ask yourself a very simple and fundamental question: "Can we do better?"
