Ah... that's an interesting ability.

Long time no see, Mr. Hakkai.

And yes, Rip did have a good ability. It really does come in handy.

Yes, it has been awhile, hasn't it?

That ability reminds me of an old friend. He had a chained sickle that he was able to direct in a similar fashion.

[Smiles] It has.

A chained sickle? Wouldn't that be too heavy and visible to use as a weapon?

It's really not all that big-- the curved part is about the size of a dinner platter-- though it is highly visible when he pulls it out.

I guess it could be a good weapon....but I'm used to seeing sickles used for farming not for weapons. I guess if it can cut grass, then it could do some damage to a person.

His is very sharp. It can cut through people just as easily as most cut through grass.

That's interesting. Is there some kind of magic involved with his weapon or could it be his strength that makes it so special?

Yes, there is magic involved. For example, the chain extends to a length that shouldn't be possible given the dimensions of the hollow staff it comes out of. The force with which the sickle hits it's target also endures far beyond what the laws of physics would typically allow. And, of course, the trajectory is controlled by the user and not by natural forces.

However, it's effects are not limitless. Beings who have greater strength can block it. Some have even caught it between their fingers. The chain was also broken once, and the staff smashed in. But, no matter how badly it's damaged, it always returns in perfect condition when it's called.

Still, it's an impressive weapon to have. The second Lieutenant, Zorin used a scythe, but she had to be really strong in order to wield it. Scythes usually don't make good weapons, but somehow she was able to make it work.

I see, it's kind of like Rip's bullets then. She said they were magically, but I only thought that she was copying her favorite character, Kaspar.

Yes, and it can be quite useful when controlled properly. He once cut down in one swipe about half a dozen enemies who had surrounded a friend of ours, without so much as scratching our friend in the slightest.

But then, we all had some pretty impressive weapons. Goku had a staff that could extend to any length, Sanzo had a scripture that could wipe out large groups of demons, and I have my chi, which is quite useful.

Well, I know first hand how useful your chi is. [Smiles] But they all sound quite impressive, but I'm sure without them you guys will be in trouble.

It depends on the person, I suppose. Goku is very strong, even without his staff, and Gojyo is quite hardy... Sanzo is only human though.

I see. So not only do you have strong weapons, your friends are also pretty strong by themselves.

Yes. We went through a lot of tough battles before we even had our weapons.

Well what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger, Mr. Hakkai.
