Whenever I hear about a power outage, the first thing that comes in my mind is Typhoon Milenyo. That blackout was very major and billboards, posters and all that were flying around. Trees were uprooted and it was raining SOOOOO hard! I think we had a blackout for 10 hours? During the blackout, we were still in our rented VV1 townhouse. We just kept looking outside and then we heard a car alarm. Turns out that the car was hit by a fallen tree! It was one of the scariest typhoon experiences and blackouts ever in my 16-year old life :P
Blackouts or power shortage make us realize how much we depend on electiricity. Well, it is pretty much inevitable to never use electricity especially in this day and age. However, power shortages can help us learn how to adapt and live life without electricity. I mean electricity isn't really everything and one can live a simpler life by using less of it. In my case, it would be difficult for me to use less electricity since I really LOVE using the computer (maybe it's something I can try to sacrifice) but I try to lessen my energy consumption in other ways :D
So really, do blackouts signify the end of the world? Maybe, but we can learn to appreciate the simple joys in life through blackouts. Blackouts can serve as a way to chill, relax and love the basic things in life :D
