Man, I've been busy lately. Not "busy" in the sense of "doing a ton of stuff all day without a break", but "doing stuff that requires a ton of thinking".
I've been reading, of course. Mostly mythology, the kind that comes from all over the world (so, yeah, a ton of stuff), but I just finished "Ink Exchange" by Melissa Marr. I swear, that woman's so close to copying Holly Black's stuff. I fscking love reading Holly Black; I read "Tithe" based on a recommendation from a friend in American Government last fall, and fell in love with the books. I read "Ironside", and then "Valiant", because, as Beverly said, it "was more like an in-between book, it just explained more of the stuff in Ironside". Still love those books; I need to remember to buy them sometime, when I'm not trying to save up and pay my parents back for all the stuff graduation requires. XP
Oh, and writing. I've been writing, too. I'm taking a break from writing "Birth of a King" and "Mirrors" (which, I know, I *still* haven't posted at all!) to focus on "Oblivion". This is partly because Oblivion is shaping up to be far more entertaining and time-consuming to write than I initially thought, but mostly because it is actually two stories!
...Let me explain.
Originally, I planned on writing Oblivion as a single story, a fanfic starring who else but Bakura and Ryou. I can't really give away the plot here, but I had it all formulated in my head, from beginning to end. The details, I figured, would work themselves out as I worked. Anyway, it was looking great. But, the more I thought about it, the more ideas I started to get, to the point where it ended up becoming an original story as well, meaning that the plot, characters, everything would be mine and mine alone.
I didn't want to abandon my original idea behind Oblivion, though. I've decided to write it as both fanfiction and original story simultaneously, though the plot lines for both would operate independently of each other and, more importantly, with some definite differences between the two. There will be parts that are incredibly similar, or even identical, when you read them, but mostly, they're the same only in general premise and plotline.
Oh, and the original version of Oblivion will not be posted online. Why, you may ask? Because I'm not wholly confident in my skills as an author, for one. And, more importantly, I just don't want to run the risk of having it plagerized. No, Oblivion will be sent out to a select number of people for reviewing. My editing team, in a sense.
As of right now, that team is:
-Caitlin (no, you don't know her; she's my best friend, and best reviewer)
-NuitSongeur (because I trust her criticism, but only if she wants)
-Tiana (again, friend in real life, and my D&D teacher)
-Myself (NO RLY?)
Yeah, small squad. I might expand it, but I dunno. Anyway, if you want to look at it, or don't, let me know. I'll decide as I go.
Oh. Almost forgot to mention, I'm getting back into Dungeons & Dragons; D&D, if you play it. I'm being helped along (a lot) by two friends of mine in International Relations class. So far, I've got a Longtooth Shifter, classed as a Shaman. The rest, hey, we're working on it right now. It's a while until the game starts up.
Anyway.
Um...
Yeah, that's 'bout it. I need more chocolate...
