Wishes Are Like Fishes...

Nov 19, 2010 14:06

Hey, I put this in the holiday_wishes group, but I'd like to share it with all of you lovely people who are on my list of friends. My friends list, you might call it.

1. World of Warcraft goodies- Yes, I know, as a college student, I should be studying and not wasting my time playing computer games, especially WoW, but what can I say? I like the game. Playtime cards would be much appreciated, and expansions would be just as grand [I'm on the basic WoW set, so I'd be looking for Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, and, wish of wishes, Cataclysm].

2. Mail- I really, really love getting things in the mail, especially letters or cards. I'd love to have a penpal[s] to exchange snail-mail with, especially ones to whom English is a second language. I'm a linguistics nerd, and I'd love to learn more languages than just English, Japanese, and the smidgen of Spanish that I've picked up.

3. My Amazon Wishlist- Used is always good! I have a huge interest in writing and mythologies, but buried under all of that, somewhere in that list, are things like soaps, DVDs of movies I'd like to watch with friends [and I'd love to share some of the older animated ones with my twelve-year old brother who hadn't seen The Lion King until this last summer when I insisted on watching it for my birthday], and a graphics tablet [for which the brand and size is meaningless, provided I can use it to draw on my computer!].

4. Advice- I'm a college student, I'm young and impressionable, and this year's been a bit difficult for me, emotionally, as I've come out to my family as gay [and my parents refuse to accept that I am several months later], and I've recently begun counselling at my school's counselling centre. Advice on any topic, from girls to friends to video games [nerd!], and especially about life and college, would be much appreciated.

5. Gift cards!- Remember how I said I was a broke college student earlier? Gift cards to anywhere, from Borders to Wal-Mart, and especially Visa Gift Cards, would be much appreciated, especially since I still have to purchase presents for my family, along with things like groceries.

6. Computer-video game-y things- I'm a huge nerd, I'll admit it. So anything related to computers [internet friends, a new battery for my Dell Vostro 1000 laptop or parts for making my own desktop computer, even] or video games would be great. I mostly play games like Pokemon, Phoenix Wright, and Lumionous Arc, but I love rhythm games like Rock Band. Wii Points, games like No More Heroes, and things related to Pokemon and Kingdom Hearts [I lack any Sony consoles or handhelds] would be much appreciated, as would battle partners for Pokemon! I'd like to get my competitive teams working and test them out against other people, and I'm working on completing my Pokedex in HeartGold version, so.... ^_^;;

7. Writing Help!- As odd as it sounds, I don't actually want people to help me with my writing, but to help others with their writing. I really enjoy reading other people's work, and am having to relearn how to read for content after three years working as a copy editor for college newspapers. So, whatever I could do to help someone else with their writing would be much appreciated!

8. Care packages with Snacks and Sweets- Candy, crackers, anything that a college student could possibly snack on while studying, working on programs, or just lounging about, I'd be grateful for. I'd especially like to try stuff that I can't usually get here in Eastern Washington, whether that be Asian snacks/candies, food from the other side of the Rockies, or from all the way across the ocean! Anything would be marvelous, though, even just a card saying to study hard!

9. Hugs- Not just for myself, but for your friends, family, neighbours, everyone. People need to know that they're appreciated and loved, and what better way to let them know through hugs? If you or another person aren't entirely comfortable with hugging random people, then positive reinforcement is just as good as hugs in a pinch.

10. An "I'm Da Bomb!" shirt from SharkRobot.com- This isn't really for me, but for my younger brother. I've made it a tradition to buy him a new t-shirt every Christmas, since he's a sweet little nerd in the middle of the mire that is middle school. Last year, I got him the "I'm Just A Shy Guy" shirt from the same website, and he loved it. I'd really like to continue to encourage him to continue to be the strong, sweet ball of sunshine I've seen him grow into, especially since he's been very upset since I left home to go to college last fall, and these shirts apparently have not only helped him be just a little braver in class and in the halls, but they've become talking points between him and his teachers and friends. He wears a Men's XX-Large, I think, but I could be wrong and he might wear X-Large. Still, the XX-Large can't hurt.

Thanks so much! E-mail me at paradoxhikari@live.com if you would like my address, or comment. <3
