It seems like society is actually going the way that you describe that it is not. It seems more and more and more people are deviating from the 'percieved' norm and doing what they want and what they desire. America and the rest of the world has embraced the idea of 'quick' satisfaction and enleashing their inner 'weirdness'. The actual 'eccentric' lifestyle of today is one of control and obedience. How weird must it be to see someone forego a desire when it so easily obtained in today's society? How weird is it to see someone work their ass off to achieve only a little bit of satisfaction when they could have easily obtained it elsewhere?

I feel like the stranger in today's society when I humble myself to others. When I follow the rules. When I rise above the simple instinctual nature that we all have. The selfish desire and wants that our nature leads us to want. It is such a self-destructive nature.

I suppose when one goes far enough to one side of things they become the outlandish and bizzare. So perhaps its not the attraction of the non-mainstream that pulls you towards gothic women, because if that were the case you would be attracted to the opposite - The outlandishly conserved and restrained indivduals. Perhaps you are not as shallow as you seem, but you embrace something that they have. Perhaps it is their ability to illustrate themselves in a unique way that appeals to you? Perhaps you see in them a certain confidence about themselves that they must have if they can be so outlandish. Who knows, but I hope I shared some insight.
