[There's a long pause of mild static over the network as Eve fumbles with the NOC. She tries her best to keep her voice from shaking as badly as her hands are as she finally manages to flip the device into audio mode.

There's still a very long pause before a voice comes over. It sounds calm and collected, though anyone who knew her would know that

[Static feedback, a bout of familiar swearing, then Jason's shocked voice:]

[There is an obvious flood of relief in her voice when she speaks again.]

Oh that God, Jason, I didn't think you guys made it out of there! Where are you? How did you escape? My team got separated somehow I... I don't really know where the others are.

Holy mother of shit, you're really here....

It's all right, Eve. We're all right. We're just...not on Earth anymore, I don't think. But Vortex, Sonic, Slick, Hunt, and Empath are here, too. Haven't seen the rest of 'em yet.

And...it's a helluva long story, at that. Half the time I don't know if I should believe it myself.

[She takes a moment to compose herself. Jason's only ever been the only person she was ever comfortable showing real emotions with, but now was not the time to let them get in the way. First, she needed to...]

[From that park, walking her fluffy little ball of cute pup, Mercy's pretty much fall down shocked to hear Eve's voice. She should be used to it now, with the others turning up, but frankly, well, it's Eve!]

[Eve sounds overly relieved and confused to hear her voice again.] The compound, Dyer, don't give me any of your bullshit now, I'm just glad to hear your voice again!

[She sighs with a tsk at the end; it's about the reprimand, it's that damn compound again. She's starting the think that Flux is around somewhere and is just messing with them.] Right, compound, how could I forget.

It's good to hear you too, Major. [Since she hadn't actually seen Streak in nearly three months.]

Where are you? Are you safe? Are the others with you? [Pardon her while she goes into 'Major Mom' mode, the last time she saw or heard from anyone, they were all walking away to their deaths.]

[He doesn't hesitate in replying, it made him happy that it seemed like the team was slowly coming together. His voice is calm and collective as usual. Most likely in hopes to try and counteract her shaken up tone.]

It's alright Major, you're not alone. Half of us are here and some have been for quite some time.

[He would probably be able to hear the wave of relief in her voice when she spoke again.]

Sergeant, I don't think I've ever been so glad to hear your voice. Are you safe? Who's with you? Where are you?

[He did hear it, and he smiled.]

The feeling is mutual. I'm fine and currently by myself at the Enforcer Headquarters.

Jason, Mercy, Connor, Chris, and Lauren are also here and safe. Are you alright?

I'm as fine anyone can be after waking up in a strange place like this. What's the situation, does anyone know what's going on?

You are now part of the city we know as "Paradise", Major. As far as we can determine, there is no way back to whatever world you formerly inhabited. The doctors in the Clinic have revived you from what amounts to "radiation poisoning", and you are now on your own as far as shelter and whatnot.

There are several housing facilities available, however, if you are a part of Commander Reed's team, I believe they are quartered together in the eastern part of the city.

[Another long pause as she listens to the stranger on the other end of the line, considering his words carefully. She can't help but snort indignantly before answering.]

Paradise? How aptly named. [Oh yes, welcome the dry wit that is the Major.] And what is your name and rank, if I may be so bold to ask?

Indeed. Its founders must have had quite the ironic foresight.

You may, of course. I am Sephiroth, General of ShinRa's Elite SOLDIER Unit upon my homeworld of Gaia, and Commander of Paradise's Enforcer Unit, Defense Division.

[She's not quite sure how she feels about interaction with a foreign Commander without Jason around, but she perseveres.]

Major Eve Dancy of Beta Tango Oscar. You mentioned Commander Reed, you've met?

[Sonic takes a few moments to reply, trying to drown out the noise around him--mostly unsuccessfully--so he can focus on the conversation with the Major.]

[The Major isn't exactly sure what to say at the familiar voice, so she tries to manage something as eloquent as she can summon at that very confusing point in time.]

[Sonic flinches on the other side of the line and it takes him a while to get his thoughts back in order to respond.]
