[Buffy promised Mercy she'd go to the clinic. Promised she'd catch up. But she didn't, not right away. She didn't really have the strength or desire to try that hard, at least not then. But eventually the nausea got to her, and she forced herself to leave the room and attempt to get to where she needed to be.
But she was so weak, and almost completely sapped. The healing? That superior healing she had as the Slayer... Was doing nothing for her. She managed to make it out of the building and to the edge of the sidewalk before collapsing.
She crumples down, wincing in pain. The world around her is spinning, going dark. She makes a reach for her NOC, but fails.
She should've gone in sooner.
And that's the last thing she thinks before her head hits concrete, succumbing to the sickness.]
