Summary: A reunion between 'brothers'.
Weiss was not here.
The thought in itself was alarming. To even consider the idea that his brother was not in the same level as him had been painful when they were separated, but for him not to even be on the same plain of existence?
Weiss is not here.
He was alone.
His brother was back there, unguarded. Valentine could easily swoop in and ruin everything. Nero had grit his teeth and tried hard not to let his mind go to that terrible place, he refused to see those awful images) Weiss' unseeing eyes, a hole in his head, blood all over the throne, everywhere everywhere everywhere) until he was absolutely certain. If he was here, certainly Valentine must also have been pulled along with him. They had been in the same room before he'd awoken here.
Still. Weiss was alone there. Nero was alone here. With only that traitorous Genesis for company - the brother that didn't quite fit, the one that had refused to aid them when they had needed him most. Genesis had not been exempt from the little games that the cruel rulers of the underground city had played. He had not been there as long as they had, he had not suffered until he had been deprived of everything that the Tsviets had yearned for. He was a coward. A failure. A miserable, pitiful person.
However, he was the only person that Nero could even hope to rely on in this place. And it was his mission to find him.
The streets reminded the Sable of DeepGround. Not the DeepGround of his youth, with it's artificial sky and empty houses that held the promise of being homes, but the DeepGround he had grown accustomed to after the rebellion. It's blood red sky and cracked walls, with filth coating everything, monsters prowling along the walls. It was almost home - as close to one as any Tsviet ever got, at least - in it's own special way. And the similarities had Nero feeling far more at ease here than he did in Kalm or the ruins of Midgar that had greeted them at their first taste of true, free sunlight.
Like DeepGround, the apartments were easy enough to locate. Nero had stuck the back ways. Paused in the alley way, he spared a glance up towards the windows - pinpointing which belonged to his 'brother'. Ah, yes, that one. Oblivion's howls surrounded him as he sank into it's cold, loving embrace - soon standing just inside the doorway of his target apartment.
He knocked on the door behind him, wasting no time in stepping further into the room once the sound was out.
"Brother."
