Buffy's nerves were more than a little shot. She had no idea what was happening, or what the deal was... She was pretty much in the dark, and not that thrilled about it. She settled next to him, noting his own anxiousness, and her hand moved to find one of his. She didn't linger long, just gave it a squeeze, then hugged her arms around herself, against her sides and tucked under each one's opposite.

She opened her mouth, as if to say something, but abruptly withdrew all thought of verbalizing what was on her mind. Leaning over, she rested her head to his shoulder, eyes fixed on the opened door. Her brow furrowed as her face settled into a frown that didn't seem too keen on leaving, expression solid in discomfort.

Who could it possibly be, that had him all worked up? That she needed to wait to see, to know?

Mercury's steps were soundless as she climbed the stairs to the floor above. She wasn't quite sure what was going on with Deacon, but she had a feeling she wasn't going to like it. The fact that he commented on her being alive was confusing, and adding in the strangeness that she had been witness to since waking up was not pleasing.

And oh yeah, waking up when she hadn't slept in over twenty years was a bit discerning. Mercury paused before opening the door at the top of the stairs. She mentally braced herself before proceeding to the open doorway he had said was his room.

Mercury lifted her hand and knocked on the wooden door frame, anxious to hear what it was he had to tell her.

His eyes flitted up from Buffy and to Mercury as he gave just the faintest nod of his head. "Come in, have a seat." Sure this place was nothing like what either of them were used too-- there wasn't even any fucking furniture. But that was a minor bit in a bigger issue.

He rubbed his thumb over his chin, corner of his mouth cocking just slightly in an awkward expression. "There's nowhere to fucking sit, but the floor will have to do for now."

Her eyes lifted at the knock, to -- a pretty, blonde... Buffy's eyes narrowed, the hair on the back of her neck standing up with the prickling heat. A lump formed and jumped to her throat, which she promptly swallowed back down. ... Vampire.

She clenched her teeth, jaw setting. She had a feeling what she was about to hear would not be anything remotely close to warm-fuzzy-inducing. Her eyes flitted back to Deacon, and she just looked at him, expectantly.

Mercury nodded, noticing the blond human sitting next to Deacon. She moved to sit opposite of them, made it easier to keep an eye on his facial expressions. She had always prided herself in being able to read his face to gauge his mood and act accordingly.

She slid down to the floor, back propped against the wall and feet tucked under her. Mercury's head tilted slightly as she looked at Deacon, trying not to acknowledge the slight tension in the room.

His jaw set for a moment, though he stilled his wavering hand. He made note of Buffy's expectant expression and Mercury's curious one. Since neither of them spoke up, not that he could blame them, he decided to fill the silence.

"This is Mercury," He waved a hand towards her, "Shes from my home." He clarified to Buffy. Eyes fitted to Mercury waving a hand to Buffy now, "And this is Buffy, she's from... some sort of Vampires with tumors universe."

Buffy wasn't as dumb as her hair color and state of origin might've suggested, and she could put two and two together. She locked her eyes on the blond across from her, watching her carefully. Not someone to trust, she could deduce that immediately. And the way he spoke, how he introduced her...

Did not a happy Slayer make.

"Hi." She spoke simply, abruptly, and in a tone that was nearly dripping with venom and suspicion. She took a nervous, shallow breath, and moved an inch or two closer to Deacon. This place had one hell of a sense of humor.

One of Mercury's eyebrows raised at the abrupt greeting. She inclined her head towards the girl and looked at Deacon, mentally shaking her head. Seriously, it seemed that even in someplace as crazy as this he couldn't not find a pretty girl.

"Vampires with...tumors?" Her voice was quiet and had just a hint of her accent slipping through. If she breathed a very large sigh probably would have escaped her.

She looked back at Buffy, mentally sizing her up. Not that she would go up against the girl, it would make Deacon unhappy with her, she could tell. But she kept her eyes on the girl, just in case.

"I don't know, they have some sort of fucked up face thing." The hand that had been propped on his knee lifted as he waved to his own face as if for an explanation. His lips parted as he seemed to be debating his next words. He offered a knowing glance toward Mercury, able to read her expression almost as well as she read his. "You were, well, fucking Dead." Well, yeah that was a bit more blunt then he should have been, but really there wasn't a nice way to tell someone they were dead. "So was I, and for some fucking reason we got sucked to this place."

Buffy, impatient with the demonic condition of a vampire from her world being called 'tumors', spoke up a little louder. "It's the demon," she offered, her tone on-edge... irritated. "Where I'm from, a vampire is a demon who's taken on the body of the human that was drained. So, when they feed, or get angry, or- well.. feel anything extreme, really. Their eyes turn yellow, and their faces reflect the demon within." She shrugged. And that's just how it was.

And then, she was completely out of the conversation. She shrank into herself a little, her eyes dropping to the floor as he spoke to the girl. Obviously they knew each other. Obviously, they'd been close enough for him to care... because he didn't, usually. It made her more than a little uncomfortable, and the way she shifted even closer to him made that apparent.

"That's... um, rather strange." She offered "Demonic beings, hm."

It took a second for the meaning behind Deacon's words to hit her, of course she was dead, she had been for the greater part of the last twenty years, something he would know, being her Sire.

"You mean, I should be a fuckin' pile of ash?" Her words hissed out, accent thick as it could get.

"And how exactly did that happen? Because last thing I remember was.. well, La Magra." She didn't go into detail, not knowing exactly how much he had told the other woman.

"Not should be, you were." He clarified, lips forming an annoyed thin line-- not at her of course, but rather at the thought of Karen who should have been food rather than killing Mercury. "Karen, and apparently some mace." He said as his eyebrow cocked upwards at the implications.

La Magra, god it pissed him off just thinking about it. He'd been so close, so fucking close and Blade ruined it for him. "Yeah, well.. shortly after you passed, I did too. " He glanced to Buffy as she curled in on herself, he would have said something to her if he thought it would have helped.

"Right, well," she said abruptly, placing her hands on her knees and pushing to her feet. She took a deep breath, an exasperating sigh following, and looked down and over her shoulder at Frost where he sat. "Don't let me get in the way of the yearbook party." Buffy, arms still wrapped around herself, took a few steps toward the door. She moved slowly; something told her that he would stop her... or at least, he'd try.

That same something almost hoped for him too.

Mercury's eyes rolled. "Quinn should have eaten that bitch when he had the chance. I can't believe she killed me with mace."

She glanced up at Buffy and bit her tongue. Obviously she wasn't used to being the odd person out and resented being left out of the conversation she had Frost were having. "Yearbook party?"

A snort of laughter exploded from Mercury's lips. "I don't think our deaths are exactly party material."

"Yeah, well you know Quinn, he keeps track of things as well as he fucking keeps hands." He almost rolled his eyes at the thought of Quin and his constant pestering of 'Deac'.

His second statement, whatever it was going to be was cut off by Buffy hauling herself up and preparing to leave. He cocked an eyebrow at her, frowning just a bit. "Sit down." It wasn't a question, or an option, he wanted her to sit the fuck down before he got annoyed. "She needs to know these things, and you need to know these things, so just sit your ass down."

"... Excuse me?" she spat, turning back to face him. Her arms moved to cross, folding over her chest. Lips flattening into a thin line, Buffy looked down at him. "Seems to me we're having a trip down memory lane. I thought I'd go find my taste of home and do the same." It was very, very clear that she was not thrilled about sitting through their reminiscing.

"If there's something I need to hear, let's skip the tea party and hear it."
