Summary: Singing in the rain!?
Rain pounded against the crumbling cement and lightning flashed every so often, but Su felt inclined to venture into the dismal weather. The icy water fell upon porcelain flesh, wide evergreen eyes sweeping over the environment. She took to meandering over to the left side of the building and leaned against the wall, allowing the overhang to shelter her. The pattering of the rain really did seem to be her only companion, but the cold bars of a cage were certainly not keeping her from venturing further.
Su could remember the bright flash of flames easily, the last thing she ever did lay eyes upon in that cold, harsh world. From here she couldn’t see Ran here, feel his presence or his pain. From afar she always had watched the brothers, worried over them, cared for them, but no more of that. Not now, not when she was supposed to cease to exist. On that rainy day the boy was frightened, perhaps even terrified of the possibility of going back to the cage, back to his brother. Damp, pure white hair shifted as she cocked her head toward the sky, raising a hand up to touch small raindrops. From bits and pieces of metal a small yet metallic statue formed. It was a woman with brilliant angel wings, curly hair tumbled over her shoulders, and full lips were parted as if she was about to sing.
“Ora…did you see us there?” It had been an adventure all right, getting to that massive statue in memoriam of the one-leaf. The little statue glistened as it hovered about in mid air and Su smiled gently as her own soft lips parted, and she sang to the morning, to oblivion.
“The birds sing a song
In a foreign tongue
A place where wings
Are not enough
A place not reachable alone
So take me
Someplace far from here
Soaked feathers
Fingers locked
The warmth of skin
Two hearts.”
Su paused, allowed the small statue to shatter. Little shards glistened as they fell to the ground. Was it too late? Or was this what it felt like to be reborn?
