Movie Reviews: Australia and Valkyrie

Okay, I'm a tough critic myself, but I am NOT one who's agreeing with the critics this winter. So far I've seen my Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman movies, Australia and Valkyrie. Let's start with Valkyrie...

The movie was magnificent. Bryan Singer's directing was once again stupendous. I expected that much from him of course, being that I loved X-Men and Usual Suspects, and he stood up to those films. :) Tom Cruise played the hero, and I loved his performance. I don't know what people were complaining about. For such a depressing real life story, I thought this film made Germany look great, I thought it was executed well, the actors were amazing, I got tears in my eyes, I loved it. Oh and the accent thing! What the hell? Why would Tom need a German accent? The movie begins with him speaking German and it transitions into him speaking English so we WOULDN'T need subtitled throughout the damn thing! So it would've been STUPID for him to have a German accent. That's a ridiculous thing to bitch about. *sigh* Anyway, I praise the movie, I loved the movie, I thought it was well done, and I give it a rave review!

Australia! I loved it! Again, what was the problem? It was TOO long? What? I don't understand that. What are people drinking that makes them need such an intermission? I wasn't bored or in need of a bathroom break. Baz created a BEAUTIFUL piece of artwork that showed us the land down under in a new light. He made an epic with our two best Aussies or "Ozzies" and they were luminous. Hugh got on that horse and reined it in and I was drooling. I was so afraid (honestly) that I was going to be a bit bored with the story but I wasn't! Baz didn't make the entire story about cattle! It was about love and family and survival and the Japanese bombing Darwin. It was easily a four to five star movie for me and if there was ever a costar to me that worked well with Hugh other than Anna Paquin, I'd say Nicole was up there. I believed in their love, but it was more than a love story. It showed me life. I enjoyed their struggle with racism, trying to fight it, trying to survive in the middle of nowhere, all of those important elements that made it such a great movie.

So go see it if you haven't!

And this year, I'm not paying attention to critics and reviews!

This is a photo of Tom and Nicole, I loved both your films!
