paraphrasing someone

only an idiot would want to get married. but I think gay people should have just as much right to be idiots.

by the way
aren't we losing sight of more important issues here?
Like the fact that queer people are still being discriminated against here as black people were in the southern US in the '50's?
Or are we just not important until we become visible

Because I'd like to remind you that some of us are.

Marriage is definitely NOT my identity.
stop making it that way,

Here's something I'd like to see: a website, application form, government document, survey or ANYTHING that does not REQUIRE my gender to be filled in before it can proceed.

My gender is as relevant as asking me about my age, religion, ethnicity or sexual orientation. Unless you are my doctor or my lover (and sometimes not even then) what lies between my legs is none of your goddamn business. I wish they'd quit asking.

Edited in on July 7th: The bill has officially passed, we're now offically allowed to get married to whomever the hell we want (but only to a person, one at a time, within an appropriate age range, and not to anyone closely related to ourselves.) That does not mean that it's over, but at least it's closer to being over.
