regarding the HMD posts.

Hey everyone, this is regarding the latest HMD post we've had.

The reason we enabled anonymous commenting is for helping people, not flaming them. As easily as we gave you that ability, we can take it away. We are not here to put people down, belittle them, or insult them -- we are here to offer constructive criticism that will help them improve where they need to. There's no need to resort to sarcastic, derogatory remarks to get your point across. We're all intelligent people and there's no need to come off like that to get someone's attention.

The HMD post isn't only there to critique, it's also there to compliment people. While some people may be quick to critique, whether it's positive or flaming, there's always space for nice comments. It's nice to know that you're doing a good job or improved, so don't focus solely on the negative aspects.

Things like the HMD post are there to focus on the issue, not on the person. Whether you like the person or not, it's up to you as a mature and experienced role player to both issue and receive comments well. We've said it again and again: if you can't handle comments, then don't post there. Don't post with your characters if you're going to lash out at the people that are trying to help you.

But going back to the original point of this entry: don't abuse anonymous commenting. Anonymous commenting wasn't meant to establish a facade of cowardliness, but by resorting to rude comments and outright flaming, it's well on its way to seeming as such.

We'd like to thank all of those that have offered constructive criticism on the last HMD post and all others before that, we really appreciate it.

Thank you very much.
