Since returning to the castle, Katherine hasn't exactly found herself in the usual spirits. It's an effort to turn off all of the emotions that she'd worked so hard on keeping close to her heart when she was human and now she feels like the chore is almost too much to bother with.
It's just that it's necessary.
Especially here.
She finds herself this evening in the gardens, wandering through the rows of flowers that are buried beneath the snow, and wondering just how much alcohol it would take for her to really get drunk. She spots Lilah up ahead a bit and smiles to herself.
Perhaps she doesn't need to know how much it'd take to get her drunk, but how much Lilah has already been drinking.
In her defense, Lilah hadn't drunk that much actual alcohol today. However, considering that all liquid here was alcohol for the evening, it seemed like she had had quite a bit.
It was rather...freeing feeling, in some ways. Lilah was always controlled. Always collected. Always making sure she said just the right thing. Kept herself in check. But tonight she felt loose. Relaxed.
It was almost a little scary.
But she smiled, perhaps a little more genuinely than usual when she noticed Katherine.
She laughed a little in agreement at that. "Guilty as charged." Not that there was anything wrong with that. After the hellish year she had spent here (had it really almost been that long already) she deserved some kind of respite.
Was it wrong that Katherine found this laughing, smiling version of Lilah adorable? Taking a breath, she moved toward the other woman, intending to join her company for a bit.
"Does it?" She asked, curiously. It wasn't something she did often. The last time she had gotten drunk like this (the time she got drunk after finding out about her future death had been a different sort) was almost a year ago now. In Wesley's room. A dare to see if they could do something reckless for once.
Of course, a lot had happened since then. And after Damon, after what he did to her, she had needed her careful sense of control even more than usual. So she hadn't been up to letting herself go like this.
"I'll have to remember that." Not that she had any plans to letting herself go this much again anytime soon. She couldn't allow herself to. It was too important to stay collected, stay sharp.
"I'm alone," She said with a shrug of her shoulders. A smile spread across her lips again as the other woman brushed her hair away. "Unless you'd like to keep me company?"
It's just that it's necessary.

Honestly, she could tell that Lilah wasn't the type to let her guard down often. So to see it now, it was rather attractive.

"Are you here alone? No one to keep you company?"
