It was probably moping, but any excuse to get into the hot springs was a good one. )
"So this is where this place was hiding."
There's a grin sent towards York, before giving a contented sigh as he settles lower into the water.

"I bet most people don't even know it's here. Barely ever see anyone using it."

"I suppose that would explain why I didn't find this place sooner." He smirks, chuckling a little to himself. "I don't think I mind the idea of this place being a quiet spot, though."

"I figure we all have enough stress in our lives that we deserve a place like this once in a while, don't you think?"

He takes this time to reopen his eyes and turn towards the freelancer, lazily letting his arms rest besides him on the edge of the pool.
"Be nice if we did this more than once in a while, but then again it's still good that the option is here."

Tex beating the shit out of him would do that. He wouldn't mind making regular trips, though. Might be kind of nice.

Rookie allowed the usual smile, before he craned his neck to give York a quick up and down look when hearing the statement. He doesn't really say anything as he does it, and the action itself only took two seconds, but as he slumps back against the pool there's a gentle shake of his head.
"I have a feeling I probably shouldn't ask." The soldier chuckles as he lifted a hand to rub the side of his face and turn his attention towards some of the leaves floating around in the water.
"But whatever reason you had for coming down here, I appreciate the invite all the same."

"Let's just say I got into a fight with my girlfriend--and she punches hard."
He'd even lost a tooth. Now, granted, York could get himself healed instantly--magic castles had their advantages sometimes--but that would defeat the purpose of coming to the hot springs, now, wouldn't it?

A visible flinch at that, mostly in sympathy, as he caught sight of some of those bruises from the corner of his eye. He honestly hadn't paid them much attention in his previous glance over, but they were certainly making a point to stand out a little more now.
It wasn't very long before his eyes went right on back down to the water as he spoke though, twirling one of the leaves in a circle.
"Sorry to hear things between the two of you are rough at the moment." He said lightly, spinning that leaf a couple more times. At least until there was a sudden flicker of realization in his expression that caused him to give a few snickers.
"... But if it's any consolation, I'm sure my Gunnery Sergeant could relate."

"Let me guess. He likes military women, too?"
There was a slight problem with being attracted to girls who could kick your ass all the time. Namely, that they'd end up kicking your ass all the time.

Rookie's smile grew wider as he glanced away from the water in contemplation. He wasn't really sure if he should mention that particular incident in the elevator, given if Buck ever did show up in Paradisa (or Dare, for that matter), Rook had a feeling they may not appreciate him talking about their personal matters.
So, after a couple more seconds of silence, he'll eventually lean back against the pool with a shrug directed towards the freelancer.
"Think it'd be best to ask him yourself if you ever get the chance, though." He lifts a hand to scratch the side of his chin, side-eying York. "If he ever decides to actual show up, anyway."

York certainly didn't - it was a nice respite from the war, which he'd been getting tired of, and from Command, who had been constantly chasing after him. But he know some people (cough Kat cough) would rather be back home, with all the risk that entailed.

Like the variety of amazing people here to interact with, or the ability to see and do things that one might never have had the chance to do back in their own world. And yet there's a subtle, almost completely hidden frown from Rookie as he folded his arms across his chest and stared carefully down at the water.
"Only thing is, sometimes you have to wonder if those good parts are worth it for some of the people staying here."

It was different for the people who didn't believe in the war, maybe, or who lived back on Earth, but--there were hardly any colonies that hadn't been hit so hard they shattered. York was an Earth boy himself, but that didn't mean he could ignore what was going on in the rest of the galaxy.
"I haven't looked up for a Covvie ship here. Not once."
And that had to be saying something, didn't it?
