It wasn't unusual for Damian to go two or three days with only a couple half-hour naps, but when he did sleep, he slept like the dead. That was exactly what he was doing right then, stretched out in bed and buried in a mound of blankets, effectively dead to the entire world. After all, the majority of Gotham still struggled to decide whether Batman was man or myth, and Damian Wayne had been gone from the public eye for many years. Out of sight, and out of mind.

When he woke up, briefly, he groggily extended a hand from under his pile of blankets and groped for the handle on the bedside table's drawer, and from it he pulled a bottle of vicodin. He sleepily popped a handful and returned the bottle to the drawer, and then he rolled over and went back to sleep.

The universe could fucking wait.

Neal was doing his daily stare down of the front door. It had gotten shorter over the course of his time in Paradisa, but it still happened. There had to be a loophole that wasn't dependent on another person. Had to be.

With that thought in mind, he started to make his way closer to the open entryway. Some days, he'll just hit an invisible wall, and when that happened, sometimes he could get a better look at things. It only really served to rub his face in things, but it was a chance to maybe see something he hadn't seen before.

Today wasn't one of those days.

The minute he got close enough to the door to actually get a look, he was hit by what could only be described as a zap. It blew him backwards, knocking him onto his back, and setting his hat askew. There was a hard cough as he tried to force some air back into his lungs, and he didn't move for a very long time, before pushing himself up into a sitting position and glaring at the door.

"A simple no would have sufficed."

Coming down the stairs, she stopped when she came to the lobby to see someone. He was familiar. It took her a moment but when he got kicked back away from the door it clicked.

'God, am I going to be trapped here with all the same people from when I was a kid?'

Inhaling sharply, she cut across toward the kitchen, planning on grabbing something to eat and then heading into the city. She needed to see if the cave was still out there and what all was still in it. She needed wheels too. This place always had ridiculous rules and people with no real sense in how to get as far away from it as possible.

She should probably turn back around and just go wait for Damian to dredge himself out of sleep, but her stomach was empty and her annoyance level high.

"Castle probably just hates you for trying," she replied sharply in his direction as she kept moving toward the kitchen.

He turned back and glanced towards the sound of the voice before smirking. "I think it hated me before I even got here. If it didn't, it wouldn't have trapped me in here in the first place."

But that was not the point. The point was that someone was talking to him, and now he was going to get up and follow her. It was something to do that wasn't painful.

Yet.

Drawing in a sharp breath, she groaned at the following. She could hear his footsteps and really didn't have time for Neal.

"It traps a lot of people, don't think you're special or anything. It hates us all, but just you a bit more."
