There was a significantly different tone to the voice of the kid calmly discussing tanabata across the journal and the voice of the kid frantically screaming 'stalker' at him... if he had picked up the difference maybe he wouldn't have shown up...

But here he is! He hadn't been in Paradisa all that long, but it would be a lie to say he didn't miss the familiarity of Japan and especially the quaintness of such a celebration. He wandered up, easily wrote his wish on a strip of paper in his rather lazy scrawl and tied it to the tree with the other wishes already hanging.

It was hard to miss that red hair and those outfits, and Kasanoda nearly jumped a foot as he realized who the latest guest was. "Y-You!" He pointed stupidly, unable to think of anything else.

"Oro?" Kenshin turns toward him innocently. And then smiles just as innocently, apparently unfazed by the pointing (and wondering... why the thought of fish just... randomly crops up in the back of his mind).

"Oh, hello..." he smiles awkwardly. "This one never did catch your name..." You know... amid all the panicked screaming and retreat. "He assumes your loss must be quite over by now..."

Kasanoda was about to accuse him of stalking once more, when the word 'loss' registered. That... might explain some things. The losses Kasanoda does remember are always quite terrible, and he winds up turning friends into enemies, or looking like a jackass. "...Oh." He slowly lowered his arm in humiliation. "Um... whatever I did, I'm sorry."

Kenshin gives him a dismissive wave (at least he isn't being shouted at again!). "That isn't necessary, he imagines you don't remember much... the castle had turned you into an infant. This one found you alone in one of the halls and kept an eye on you until it was over." And it certainly ended with a bang! No good deed goes unpunished, alas.

He quietly gave this some thought. He didn't remember this, but he had been told by others he was turned into a younger version of himself. It was fairly disturbing, because he knew he wasn't a pleasant child. "Well... thanks, I think."

"Aa... You're welcome... he thinks" he answered, lifting a hand to rub at the back of his neck. "Might this one ask your name?" You know, it would be nice to know WHO he had been babysitting for a day.

He nodded politely, trying to make up for... pretty much everything wrong he had gone. "Kasanoda."

Kenshin gave him an answering nod. "This one's name is Kenshin. It is good to officially meet you, Kasanoda-dono."

Dono? This guy was almost impossibly polite! Kasanoda hadn'y been treated so respectfully since he was back home with his fellas. "... Uh... you can just call me Kasanoda."

Oh Kasanoda... you should hear him when he's speaking straight Japanese and not this strange common tongue... And you called this poor guy a stalker ;;

"Very well," he replied. Kenshin relaxed now that it didn't seem any objects would be thrown at his head, and turned back toward the tree. "By chance were you the one who had suggested this?"

He also looked back to the tree, somewhat glad they were on normal speaking terms. "Yeah, but it was my friend Uru who set it up... I just mentioned it in passing."

"Is that so?" he answered. "This one has only been here a little over two months," you were his first concrete example of a temporary loss--congrats, "but it's reassuring to see something familiar like this."

He raises an eyebrow at the strange manner of speech, but doesn't press on it. "I've been here over a year... Just wanted to do something that reminded me of home."

"That long?" he mused. "That must be difficult..." Admittedly he can't quite share the same sentiments as most people. He was a wanderer with no home to return to... here or there didn't entirely matter.

Not to mention the presence of a certain woman that made him more than content to remain there, no matter how confusing it was. Funny how that works...

He gives a one shoulder shrug, trying to distance himself from any pity taken on him. "There are people who have been here longer than me." Tamaki, for instance, though at times it was like Kasanoda knew this place better than the blonde.
