Fred is probably bustling in and out. The kitchen is huge and boasts a very nice central wine rack/counter.

Tugging open the oven, Fred reaches for the potholders and pulls out the last of the apple pies. A step and a turn and it's cooling on a small rack in the corner. With the back of her wrist she reaches up to brush a bit of the dampness from her face.

Her hair's tugged back into a haphazard bun and her features are still leaning towards the softer side of pink from the heat. There still might even be a bit of flour on her cheek.

It's not occurred to her to mind. Instead she makes her way to the sink, dampens a sponge and starts to wipe the counters down.

Larry left his date in the living room for a bit, because he knew where to find the cook, and he wanted to pop in and see her.

He walked into the kitchen and tilted his head to watch her work, a small smirk playing on his lips. He thought about saying something but decided to just keep quiet and wait for her to notice him.

He was also dressed up nicely for the occasion. He's good at that.

There's something immensely satisfying is the chore of wiping down the counters. Fred goes about it methodically, working from one end to the other in quadrants. And she's clearly lost in her own thoughts -- because for all that she's usually got a solid sense of her surroundings? She isn't aware of the figure in the corner until she's practically on top of him.

"...Larry."

Dropping the sponge in favor of a smile she pulls him into a quick hug.

"You decided to come after all?"

He laughs when she finally notices him, and opens his arms to hug her back. "You have been telling me to get out more, haven't you?"

He takes a quick glance over his shoulder. "Plus it's about time I check this Wes guy out some more, isn't it?" And he smirks back at her.

"Of course I have. I started to picture a door where your face used to..."

The rest of his words settle. Fred pulls back a but more. Reaches for the sponge again then changes her mind. Instead she just crosses her arms, one over the other.

"...why would you have to do that?"

And he knows that wasn't the right joke right away. His smile fades a bit and he looks at her. "Fred. Dear. I was kidding. Relax."

He doesn't know half of what he's talking about in the first place, he only thinks he does. He crosses his arms right back at her though.

Have you seen the size of her smile? It's practically all that she is?

Her eyes settle on how he's crossed his arms too.

"Larry, dear? I am."

Only wait...

"Relaxed, I mean. I'm relaxed. Or kidding. Is it better if I'm relaxed, or kidding?"

And at that his smile starts to grow again. He watches her eyes on his arms.

He considers that question, and he considers it carefully. Just watching her as he does. And then he nods. "Kidding would be better. To kid you would have to be relaxed to some degree, no?"

She can feel him watching her. Fred awkwardly shifts from one foot to the other, trying to sort out just what he's seeing.

"...then I'm kidding."

"Then we're both kidding and everything is okay?"

This conversation was threatening to get away from her...

"Yes, we're that."

It already has gotten away from him and he shakes his head, before tilting it at her.

"What was the point of this?"

Fred can't help but laugh.

"You know, I'm not really sure?"

He laughs with her and starts to help her clean up.

"Neither am I."

She grabs a dish towel, and doesn't hesitate to thwap him with it.

"Cleaning is not for you..."
