Of course Sam was going to show up. It was Valentine's Day and they were acknowledging it by not celebrating it.

Completely makes sense.

Not that Sam actually wanted to celebrate, considering everything that had happened lately. Spending time with her and friends is a completely acceptable use of the holiday. He was looking forward to it. He arrived at Jo's and knocked on the door lightly, looking around to see if anyone else was coming.

Spike didn't celebrate holidays. Coming to the castle just cemented that fact, seeing as how every one of them has ended in varying degrees of mental scarring and more magic than he ever cared to see. Should have occurred to him earlier to get out as soon as the decorations started showing up, but he'd never been a fast learner. On his way to Jo's he grabbed a couple bottles from his own stock of alcohol, in case a bartender wouldn't already be fully stocked. He wasn't going to risk it ( ... )

Jo was on her way. Sheesh, boys just lining up at her door apparently. Opening it, she tucked her hair behind her ear and smirked, "Well, you're both alive and not pink. I take it the castle hasn't exploded just yet?"

The door opened more and she gestured to let them in, of course, also checking the hallway to make sure she doesn't see any stragglers coming up the stairs. When it seemed clear (which she assumed meant that as soon as she shut it someone else will show up) she shut the door and moved to take the booze from Spike.

"Didn't trust that I'd have enough, huh?"

With that in hand, she moved toward the kitchen, calling over her shoulder, "Sam - this is Spike. Spike - that is Sam. I'll be there in a second."

Dean was the last person to even recognize Valentine's day outside of mocking it. He wasn't one for any holidays and his celebrations of them had a tendency to be lacking to the say the least. He welcomed the escape from whatever the castle was throwing down and was timely in showing up to Jo's. Timely meaning five minutes late.

He rapped his knuckles against the door frame and shifted between his legs. He looked a little tired, it was fitting because he hadn't been sleeping very well.

Sam nodded in Spike's direction in a way of greeting, before glancing back at the knock on the door. He moved to open it, finding his brother behind it. He looked more exhausted than anything else, and Sam couldn't help the smirk.

"Morning sunshine."

Heading back into the living room, Jo glanced to where Sam was letting Dean in. Now all they needed was to see if Jet was going to actually make it or not. It wasn't as if there was pressure to come hang out with three complete strangers, but all things considered -- with the way the events rolled out at the castle -- you'd end up stuck with strangers soon enough.

With a beer in hand for Spike, she tapped the bottle to his shoulder before moving to set down the one for Sam. The other night, Dean had been hitting the hard stuff, but she wasn't sure what he wanted this time.

"Dean - can I get you a drink?" Offering seemed the safe play.

Spike mustered up a smile at Jo when she went to the kitchen; he could lie and say that the booze was a gift for letting him use her place as a hide out if he hadn't planned on drinking most of that himself. That gave him a few moments alone with Sam. As much time as he spent with Jo, he'd meant to say something since her boyfriend came back -- you know, other than 'hey, your funeral was nice' -- but he had nothing. So he was thankful when they got interrupted with the arrival of Dean and he happily gave them some space ( ... )

Over the past few days, Jet had already begun to discover the truth of being where he currently was: there was no staying in the castle and staying sane for this so-called holiday. And there was no way in hell he could stick around with the potential threat of magical arrows in the air. So getting directions to a place distinctly less...pink was more or less a blessing, one he'd probably wind up coming to remember fondly as time passed.

Jet wasn't the kind of man who looked a gift horse in the mouth in situations like these. Spike seemed convinced it was on the up-and-up to boot- sure, the guy had a habit of winding up in over his head in any number of situations, but at least if things took a turn for the worse, he wouldn't have to make a rushed trip to the scene.

All that taken into consideration, Jet also remembered that he was heading out to someone else's place: meaning he put on some approximation of manners and knocked on the door once he finally turned up.

Dean took a seat on the nearest flat surface, which happened to be the couch and just idly tore a hand back across his neck still looking about as sleepy as he felt. He glance to Sam with a real funny look and perked up at Jo's mentioning of drink offers.

"Yeah, uh- some of th'good stuff. On the rocks." He didn't normally use ice but he was looking for something different tonight. If nothing else he could ditch the cold drink later.

Jo listened to Dean's reply as she moved to the door to answer it. With a smile, she opened it and let Jet in. She'd never met him before but she assumed that it was him.

Calling out over her shoulder, she let Spike know, "Jet's here."

With that, she waited for the man to step inside, shutting the door behind him, "Jet - I'm Jo and over there is Sam and on the couch is Dean and you know Spike. Can I get you something to drink? I'm about to open the hard-stuff."

She shot an amused look to Spike, since she'd handed him a beer - knowing that she'd bring him a glass too.

Sam gave Jet a wave as he settled back on the couch, reaching for the beer Jo left him. "Nice to meet you."

Spike looked over his shoulder, halfway surprised Jet had decided to listen to him. Not that he should be, the decorations in the castle would drive anyone out, magic or not. Not a lot of choices after that.

"Hey," he leaned back in a 'hey look, I found normal people' expression -- because you know he'll find any excuse to show off. And he didn't miss that glance from Jo, and he gives her one back. He can polish off that beer as fast as he needs to. "Welcome to the hide out."

He didn't mind so much that his question went unanswered. The less he was obligated to come up with a conversation the better, and the other two guys not being talkative meant he lucked out. Maybe they could get through a night without anything weird happening. He had been kind of hoping Jet didn't get the same treatment he did when he arrived.

"Did we miss anything?" ... or did they all get out in time. Spike's just waiting for the screaming on the journal. Maybe they could take bets on when that would start.

Jo, Sam and Dean; Jet made sure to put those names to memory at least for the time being. Seemed like a good idea. He acknowledged the new introductions with a nod of greeting and a "hey," not one to deliberately wander into antisocial territory. "Hard stuff works fine. Thanks for the break."

He was pretty sure he might have ended up punching a few people if he'd stuck around all that mess for too long.

Spike's 'hey look, I found normal people' expression got met with a flat stare and a skeptical raised eyebrow (also known as 'yeah, we'll see how that works out.') before Jet just moved on to the question.

"Hell if I know." He shrugged, leaning against a nearby wall. "Pretty sure I didn't show up to be your eyes and ears when you weren't running around the castle for yourself."

Which really just meant he'd found nothing worth noting.

Dean raised a somewhat smug hand in Spike and Jet's direction and extended his boots over the table to relax. With his back in a recline he could finally take a load off of the stress bunching his shoulders and it felt good enough that he released an elated sigh and dipped his head back, only to raise it again and exchange looks between the people in the room he knew, Jo and Sam.

"The castle always pull this shit? Turnin' pink and makin' us its guinea pigs?" His tone was a little gruffer than usual. He was really just waiting on the drink. "Wouldn't surprise me, but..." But he wanted to know to be ahead of the game. He think it meant that he'd be crashing here a lot more often if that were the case.

"Pretty much," Sam sighed as he leaned back. "It likes to put us through the ringer more often than not."

It wasn't something that Sam was fond of either -- that much was clear. It was hard to have a life in this place when the castle just kept trying to screw with it. He took another sip of his beer, before shrugging. "Not to say that it doesn't have it's really cool moments, but ... it tends to ruin them at the same time."

Returning from the kitchen, she had glasses tucked against her fingers (her true skills as a bartender showing). Handing them out, she poured a drink with her free hand as she moved around the room. At least they all had a drink now, Sam possibly with two.

"It's sadistic. Holidays are... like toys to it. Christmas, Halloween - anything that usually requires decorations. I was just glad to have the ability to find an apartment out here. It's made a few of the more interesting events more tolerable."
