Who: Roy Harper and a few. What: Last goodbyes. Where: Just specify where you want to catch him: Paradisa castle, the northern outpost, or on the road. When: Mid-January.
She had been out, getting ready to patrol when she spotted him, crawling halfway between the third and second floor, clinging to the wall. He was walking out, looked like he was ready to go on a mission with the way he was bundled up, Sida at his heels.
What was going on?
Jessica hesitated, adjusting her mask to make sure it was firmly over her face. He was going somewhere. And... it looked like it'd be for a long time. But natural instinct told her to jump on in and bug him anyways, despite how much that might possibly be a bad idea.
She did it anyways.
"... Roy?"
There would've been a witty remark, of course, but unlike her genetic template, she had a better control on her jokes and when they were necessary. And there was a sinking feeling in her stomach when she called out for him, still clinging to the wall, shivering in the cold (though she was trying to hide it) with that scarf around her neck. Maybe he was just going hiking.
"-- Spider-woman." It barely took him a beat. He half-turned and looked up, the guilty conscience chased away almost before it showed itself by a hefty dose of skepticism. "Aren't you cold in that? My dog is dressed better than you."
And he was, romping around in the snow with a horrible peach-colored sweater already starting to fray at the little doggy sleeves. Or chewed. Whichever.
She was beaming though, under the mask. If only because there was Sida, wearing that awesome sweater that she had picked out for him and was clearly the best puppy ever because of it. Her gaze shifted slightly, moving from the dog to Roy himself, only showing this through the tilt of her head before she made a surprised noise, leaning forward on that wall.
"Your hair! It -- it looks great!"
She meant it too, she did. Better than that mop he had before. Like she could talk though. She -- Peter worked that look for a while to.
Roy gave a loud snort. "It does not. You're just saying that because you're responsible." He was going to have to come over so she could ruffle it, wasn't he? Well, there were worse parting gestures. He strolled on over to lean against the wall. "Out for a stroll, are we?"
Jilly liked the stairs more than the elevator, even if eleven floors was a long way to walk to get to her room. She liked being able to take her time and see what was actually around her, without all the rushing in between.
Today, she's not stopped on the stairs, though, pencil in hand. Today her attention is fully aware of what's ahead of her when she catches sight of Roy and Sida, the familiar figure bringing an automatic smile to her face.
She doesn't register the pack at first. Or, if she does, it's not all that unusual. He's gone off into the Dead Zone for stretches of time before. Right now, the only thought is that she hasn't really caught up with him since their trip to Caritas.
"Roy!" Calling out, she'll pick up her steps to close the distance between them. "Hey..."
"I was about to ask you the same thing." She can't help but laugh at the high-five, awkwardly returning it before she gestures to his get up and his dog.
Lois really needed some damn air. She'd spent too much cooped up in that castle, too much time avoiding people's inevitable 'how are you doing's or looks of pity, and she felt like she couldn't breathe.
She was honestly relieved when she spotted Roy. She figured if anyone wasn't going to treat her like she was recovering from some rare disease and made of glass, it'd be him.
"Hey!" she shouted in his direction, trying to catch his attention.
"Hey yourself!" Roy promptly shouted back, wheeling around in the snow. He immediately tipped his chin up at Lois, all attitude and easy confrontation. " 'Morning. Little early for another interview, don'cha think?"
(By 'interview' he of course meant 'going for drinks.')
"Headed out." Which was true. Had to watch his words with this one. "Hobby of my own, I guess." Also true, though going off half-cocked at a second's notice was really more of a bad habit.
"Won't be gone that long." Possibly not true. Who knew? Best to brush over it. "And you?"
/screams, I'm so sorry I'm late! outside the castle perhaps?paybackFebruary 10 2011, 07:49:06 UTC
She'd been out taking Tad for one of his long exercise runs, nearly ready to turn in with her Arcanine when she spotted a familiar figure walking over the snow, looking like he was packed to go somewhere.
Rin gave it barely a moments' thought and Tad barely a nudge with her knees before they were rushing in Roy's direction. She'd say a good hello to him, see where he was going, and perhaps if he wanted a lift. It had been a while since she'd had a face-to-face meeting with Roy.
Roy looked up at the odd rolling thump of large paws on snow, and promptly did his best to hide his wince. "Ho, Rin!" he greeted, that casual face he kept having to pull on and off wearing a little thin. He ignored the heroic reaction of his dog to a much larger quadruped, namely, to leap behind his master and growl defensively. "You're out in the cold."
Tad slowed to a stop when they came to Roy, dropping his head and peering at the other dog with his tongue lolling. Rin, for her part, lifted a hand and smiled at Roy. "Taking Tad for a run! It's not so bad with him, even if he kicks up a breeze, you know." Her Arcanine was a fire-type, after all.
"Are you headed out for a walk? Want a lift at all?"
Maybe picking up on his master's tense posture, Sida gave another growl that ended in a sharp bark. Roy glanced down, secretly grateful to his daughter's puppy for providing an excuse. And yet...
He glanced back up at Rin and her smile just did him in. "You know what? Yeah. Yeah, I do. Just northeast, so far's you feel like."
He scooped his dog up one-handed, tapped the pup's nose. "Play nice." he advised quietly.
