Vereesa had known that something was coming, but she hadn't known it would be this. Endless swarms after swarms were falling upon the town, and the sight was grim. Her mind took her back decades, and her thoughts were filled of the orc invasion upon Quel'Thalas. She had been young then, unable to fully contribute to the forces and yet unwilling to fail her sisters.
This wasn't her home, but she had defended it as she could. These were not her people, but she was no less committed to fighting alongside them.
Now, she was needed elsewhere.
Circumstances had led her eslewhere in Azeroth, taking her away from the brute of the Scourge invasion, and for years she had wondered how differently things could have turned out if she had been in Quel'Thalas instead.
She would never know, but one thing was certain: When her sister called for her, she would not fail her again.
Vereesa ran with the speed and determination the high elves had always boasted, her sights set on the castle. Dusk was approaching, giving the creatures a more menacing appearance than they already possessed, but she did not falter. Fate and allegiances be damned. None of that mattered now. She knew where she needed to be, where she belonged, and that was with Sylvanas.
Her keen eyes spotted her in the distance, and a sudden pulse coursed through her body. It was enough of a distraction to catch her attention, but not one to slow her down. In fact, the effect was quite the opposite. Suddenly her steps were no longer heavy. It was as if she was soaring through, racing faster now to get to the castle gates where Sylvanas was standing.
"Sylvanas!" she cried out as she approached the gates, and it wasn't until she stopped in front of her sister that she began to realize that she was no longer touching the ground, and the other drastic changes that had overcome her.
