The birds were annoying, but he didn't actually mind them too much. If anything at least it seemed somewhat normal. Well, normal for the magical castle to have animals that were normal.

This quantity? Not so normal. The actual species? Kind of normal. At least, he thought they had eyes. There were those buffaloes he'd heard that didn't have eyes.

With the way everything had been going lately, with the nosebleeds, Chuck wanted some air. The roof, a common place for people to go when they wanted to be alone, meant that it was usually busy. However, with the birds he thought maybe it wouldn't be too bad.

Entering through the door he paused when he saw the woman. She looked familiar, but he wasn't sure if he'd seen her just around the castle or if it was something else.

"Oh - uh, sorry. I didn't know if the birds would've scared people away from the roof or not."

Sophie glanced back over her shoulder, before shaking her head. "Apparently background noise isn't really a deal breaker in order to get some time to myself."

Her head tipped back to look up at the sky again before shrugging. "You're not bothering me if you stay -- I didn't really think that I would managed to get some time solely to myself.

"Yeah, it's a bit hard with four hundred or so people within a mile of you."

Smiling, Chuck moved further across the loose gravel of the rooftop surface, "I've seen you. That, that crazy wedding thing."

It took her a minute to place that reference, before smirking slightly. "Ah, yes. My lesbian period." She glanced back at him as she looked him over, trying to see if she recognized him. "Were you under the castle's influence as well?"

Did he say wedding? He meant dinner, but still he was pleased to say he wasn't under that whole castle thing.

"What? Oh, no. I mean, I was just there for dinner at that restaurant. It was just odd luck."

She nodded. "That was probably the most insane twenty days I've ever had. And I spend most of my life pretending to not be myself so ... that's saying something."

"Witness protection?" Because, he hadn't actually heard that from someone yet. It'd be different, instead of the usual lives that came into this place.

She chuckled. "No. I'm a grifter." It was just simpler that way. It was as though there were many people to con here in the hotel. And if asked, she would be introducing herself as Sophie -- she might as well.

Nodding, he shrugged, "This would be kind of an odd place to end up if you were in Witness Protection anyway. I mean, what if you opted to be yourself and then the people coming after you, like, just showed up."

"I suppose that would be rather dangerous, wouldn't it?" She smirked a bit, crossing her arms in front of her as she moved closer. "Thank goodness people just come back in two weeks."

"Yeah... it'd probably get repetitive. Killing, waiting, killing again..."

"Exactly. They would get bored very quickly."

"So, you're a grifter? Like you just lie to people and they give you what you want?"

"More or less," she sighed. "I used to do it for my own personal gain, but there was this ... friend of mine, who collected a group of thieves and decided to use our combined powers for good. I haven't looked back since."

"Awesome. Sort of... yeah, I mean I get it. The whole doing good deeds. I've done that. I mean, not on purpose, but sort of on accident? I mean, I used to be a prophet."

Pausing, Chuck shrugged, "I mean, I don't think I'm an ex-prophet, but here I'm not very, you know, with the visions of the future."

"A prophet. Really."

Safe to say, that had her interest.

"That's something you don't hear every day."
