Honestly, they both needed the break. Between their own problems and the problems of their friends, there was a lot of drama circling the drain, and they were trying not to go down with it.
The obvious solution to that problem? Drinking. Not necessarily getting fall-over drunk, but having a cocktail after work, dancing a little, shooting a little pool, throwing a few darts, and maybe getting hit on by a few of the "townies" wouldn't hurt at all. The only problem was that every time they made plans, something came up. This time though, they vowed not to let work or friends stop them from having a good Friday night.
They met at Caritas, ordered their first drinks, and were ready to devote the next several hours to only paying attention to themselves. It seemed good in theory, at least.
