Elle: Is she doing better?
Sylar: She's not frying herself anymore. [shrugs]
Elle: That's an improvement at least.
Sylar: It is.
Elle: I got Molly a TV.
Elle: and... a scary movie.
Sylar: Why? [Paradisa doesn't have cable] Oh. [well, at least that makes sense]
Elle: [shrugs] Scary Dreams on Oak Lane, or The Book Didn't Make Him Do It
Sylar: [makes a face] If she ends up having nightmares ...
Elle: She fell asleep before the scary parts.
Sylar: [amused] Good.
Elle: I can stay up if you want to talk about it if you want? [because she would if he wanted her to otherwise she's passing out on the couch]
Sylar: [isn't sure what he wants, beyond his abilities back] Not sure how much good I'll be at conversation. [but he wouldn't mind the company, at least?]
Elle: So we'll have ice cream or watch the rest of this movie?
Sylar: Ice cream. [plz]
Elle: We could do both too... just saying. I'll make sure there's ice cream though.
Sylar: Thanks.
Elle: I could brush your hair? [teasing] It helped Molly.
Sylar: [makes a face at her] I'm not Molly.
Elle: No you are not. So that's a no to the hair brushing.
Sylar: Good call. [doesn't really want to be touched much, right now. he feels so fucking weak]
Elle: [exhales and she could argue that if she actually had her memories of the last time he was powerless] I'll have ice cream on standby.
Sylar: [she can still remember frying him at Mohinder's lab, can't she? :P but at any rate, he nods a bit. is going to go find somewhere to sulk like a dog with its tail between its legs]
Elle: [she cannot argue that sadly and if he doesn't want to sulk alone Del seems to be comforted by the fact that she hums so if he wants to come sit by her he's more than welcome to]
Sylar: [flops down next to her, a bit miserably. doesn't even have Mohinder to run to, to make him fix it, this time. and she's probably going to look down her nose at him for the week, because he's normal. and his life sucks]
Elle: [hands him ice cream and is silent for a bit as she eats her own]
Sylar: [pokes at his, viciously]
Elle: Easy there tiger, I don't think it realizes it was alive.
Sylar: [shoots her a black look]
Sylar: [eff you, ice cream]
Elle: Okay, I should've gotten sugar free. [sticks her tongue out at him too while she's at it]
Sylar: [doesn't follow] What difference would that have made?
Elle: You're a bit wound up. [gestures with her fingers to show] Just a little bit.
Sylar: [rolls his eyes] I've been here and done this. I didn't need a reminder. [so, yeah. he's wound up]
Elle: Yeah, well there aren't any useless siblings around here to take it out on this time, and thank God Candace isn't here. I hated her.
Sylar: Shame I never got her power.
Elle: Maya or Candace? Because really both of them were annoying.
Sylar: At this point I'd take either, just to have something to kill.
Elle: [sighs and sets her ice cream down] You really think that's going to do anything other than get blood on that shirt?
Sylar: It'd prove I wasn't useless for a week.
Elle: [oh... Sylar... this is not pity either this is compassionate glance] You aren't useless, you never have been and trust me, you never will be.
Sylar: [a little less angry, a little more exhausted-sounding] Go back in time and tell me that, when I was stuck fixing watches.
Elle: [quietly] I'm pretty sure I did.
Sylar: [closes his eyes, and takes a deep breath. holds it for a moment before letting it out a sigh, and then, very quietly] Guess you did.
Elle: [feels bad she brought that up though] I'm sorry... I didn't mean... [goes back to her ice cream since she doesnt' even know what she didnt' mean]
Sylar: [shakes his head a little] No, it's fine.
Elle: Is it quiet? Last week I couldn't get over how quiet I felt.
Sylar: It is. [a skipped beat] I miss it.
Elle: [deep breath inward and she holds it for a moment] Sometimes I can get the control so precise I think I can just shut it off, but the moment I think about that I can't push myself to try.
Sylar: [just makes a little accepting noise, shifting a bit closer to her. the awkward of a moment before has been replaced by a need to see if he'll be able to feel that hum of power having her ability has brought if he sits close enough to her. you know--like how you can feel a transformer thrumming, if you get close]
Elle: [Del does the same thing, though it took her a bit to get used to having Del just press herself up against her, so she doesn't really notice] We didn't have our abilities when we were running from Bennet. I don't remember all of it, but I know there was an eclipse -- and then nothing was there. [brushes her fingertips at that a tiny spark rubbed between the pads of her fingers] The eclipse passed and then everything was fine again. You made it through that, you survived that even... [remembers being so upset at seeing him die, but doesn't really know why it upset her so much] You'll do the same for this.
Sylar: [isn't quite plastering himself to her--is just sitting a little bit closer] I'm sure I will, I just--it seems like this has been my life for so long. My abilities--they're such a big part of who I am and how I define myself, and to be without them, it's ... [well, she can probably guess, at very least] And to see my toys in someone else's hands? [shakes his head a little. he didn't compare Peri to Brian Davis in his head, however briefly. no, not at all]
Elle: [yeah she didn't think he was, it's a very Del thing to do. Elle nods though, because she can barely remember a time before she had them, and yet at the same time she can't remember all the times she's had them] You didn't give them away, you didn't lose them on accident, you didn't hug your father and have them removed like you're being scolded for misbehaving. [lol peter] The castle is just giving someone else perspective on how it is to be you. Maybe it's good that someone else can see that it's you that makes it different here, not your loss.
Sylar: [lol Peter. uh, he means, err ...] Maybe. I don't know. [sets his ice cream down, untouched save for the part where he seemed to be trying to make mashed potatoes out of it, and sinks back into the couch]
Elle: [Shrugs] so you get to help someone understand. It's an outsiders perspective on your abilities too. Something you probably haven't had in a while. You might learn something new.
Sylar: [wryly] Or people might see how much damage I could actually do if I was trying, at the rate she's going.
Elle: So they see. It's just a choice to make. Either they see and learn that you are a threat, or they see and they learn that you choose not to be a threat.
Sylar: [nods a bit, not sure what to say to that or to keep the conversation going]
Elle: I think either way the odds are in your favor.
Sylar: [silence for a bit more, and then] She's going to find out I've been lying to her. Or at least that I haven't been telling her the whole story. [small, sick smile] And I can't just start pinning people to ceilings, this time.
Elle: [for someone who hates to be lied to Elle really can't believe he's been flat out lying to someone... keeping parts of the truth away sure] No, that probably won't work out so well this time. Even if she finds out, would you tell her the truth anyway?
Sylar: [it hasn't been a flat out lie? he's just sort of been dancing around the subject, because every time he gets near the God's honest truth, she starts getting uncomfortable and he gets fed up and buries it away] I'd tell her if I thought she'd give me the chance--before or after. She doesn't ... she's one of the good guys. [shrugs] I'd probably break her brain if I told her.
Elle: [shrugs and pulls a spark between her fingers for a split second... idle hands sorry] Then you're doing her a favor by keeping her ideals safe.
Sylar: [so damn jealous. makes a little face, both at the spark and the situation] If I still had my aptitude, and she'd gotten that too, she'd be able to understand. [but yeah, he's not that lucky]
Elle: [she could give him a pinch of pain but doesn't think that'd be appropriate so she clasps her hands together to keep the idle more idle] That probably would've made your situation worse if she actually could understand it all.
Sylar: How so?
Elle: Because she'd already know you were lying, and she'd know exactly what to do to make sure you couldn't hurt anyone again.
Sylar: [looks vaguely amused by that for an instant. has sort of teetered back and forth between OMG MY SELF-PRESERVATION INSTINCTS and having a death wish over the last few weeks, so that smile is him thinking maybe that wouldn't have been so bad. he's smart enough not to put that out there, though, and so the smile fades] Good point.
Elle: [yeah there is a Ruby in my head that just sort of gaped at the thought of him doing that, but Elle just shrugs] You should get some sleep. She's going to be a bit better tomorrow, but if she melts the microwave tomorrow that kid is going to freak out.
Sylar: [huffs out a sigh of a laugh] It'd be funny. [but she's right--he probably should sleep. sobers with a sigh, and then he gets to his feet, shooting a glance towards his bedroom before looking back at her] You staying the night?
Elle: [exhales] I'll have breakfast with Molls, she'll be happy. Besides the tower is a bit of a walk.
Sylar: [nods] I'll see you tomorrow morning, then. [heads for the bedroom, though he hesitates before he gets to the door. stands there for a moment, mutely, and then] Elle?
Elle: [midyawn when he calls her name so give her a second] Mmm.. yeah?
Sylar: [simply] Thank you. [and then he's disappearing into his room, closing the door behind him]
Elle: [and she totally just curls into the couch thankful for ghosts that bring pillows and blankets and clothing and all sorts of things she likes to have]
