Rose Tyler had never really ridden a horse too far before. The Doctor at one point had attempted to teach her to ride. He'd ridden through a mirror, and she called it showing off. He told her it was truly a skill that could come in handy, and until she woke up in the land of no indoor-plumbing she hadn't thought it would be true. Though since waking up in Fairfield she'd been toying with the notion of learning to ride. Tuesday night she ventured out to York's farm to check on her dinosaur turned dog, and Vortex turned cat. While out there in the stable she found a horse and saddled it up. The funny thing was that she knew how to do it. It was the same as she knew how to prepare ice cream at the shop, and how to fold hospital corners in the bedroom. Which was sort of unsettling in it's own right. Just after nightfall, Rose realized she could ride... and actually ride well.
Now it was Wednesday and she was tired of being in Fairfield when some of her friends were over in Winchester. She knew she could ride, and what was the point of being able to ride if she wasn't going to actually use it to get her across that valley quicker. Popping into the farm house quick, Rose told York she was borrowing a horse and within about twenty minutes she had saddled him up and was heading across the valley. Thankfully there was a well worn path to follow from the edge of town past some of the other farm houses and estates, and then into Winchester.
The difference was pretty startling. In a way she was relieved they had Don as their Sheriff since she was starting to think they might need him more here in this town than she did over in hers. The horse moved down main street until she saw the wooden hanging sign stating that she'd found the Sheriff's Office. Getting off the horse she tethered the reins to the post, and moved inside.
Tugging at the skirt she was in she shook her head trying to work out why she felt so nervous. It wasn't as if she didn't go see Don all the time, though she didn't have to ride a horse to do so.
"Hello? Sheriff Flack?" Rose called out with a bit of a laugh in her voice.
