She kind of jumped, startled to say the least. However, at seeing a friendly face (and a voice that sounded a little familiar... she couldn't put her finger on it, but she knew it would come to her) she put on her best confident grin, and gave a thumbs up.
"Fit as a fiddle~" although she didn't look entirely convinced when she glanced back at the training dummy. "Just, you know, putting in a bit of morning training. She stretched out her arms as if to prove a point. She paused for a moment, getting a good look at his outfit.
No. Way. Something like that, that's a full fledged super hero uniform. He couldn't be...
He smiled and nodded. "Yeah, my birth certificate doesn't say 'The Flash'", he laughed, "What's your name?" He checked out the dummy yet again, and then the girl standing before him.
"Training, huh?" He observed her scrawny arms. "Do you train often?" He knew the answer to that, but gave her the benefit of the doubt. There were some pretty strange people in Paradisa, so you never knew.
"T-That's so cool!" Probably the best part about living in this castle was being able to meet actual ninjas and superheroes. But she would try her best not to freak out. Try. "Maya Fey~"
But at this comment, her smile faltered a little bit. Was it really that obvious? Well, she wasn't exactly buff, so she should have expected it. "No, not really. People don't need to fight in my world... But I'm trying to be stronger here!" the determination is back in her voice at this comment.
He took a step back and eyed her up and down, arms folded. She needed a lot of help. But why would a sweet girl like this want to learn how to fight?
Oh, right, the castle causing people to randomly kidnap and torture innocent girls. That.
Then, suddenly, her name hit him. "Hamburger girl?" He laughed at this. "Well you don't say. Not to offend you, Maya Fey, but it looks like you need a little help. Am I right?"
Wait, so he did now her? Then she wasn't imagining she knew his voice form somewhere. Wait, wait, wait... And then it clicks. "Wally! I thought I knew your voice!" she can't help but grin, it's pretty cool that she met a superhero and didn't even know it.
"Yeah, you could say that," her grin might be a little sheepish, but she feels better knowing that she 'knows' him more then she thought.
"Alright, Maya, I'll help you out... but then you gotta show me how to make an expert hamburger. Deal?" He extended his large hand to her, with the other on his hip.
There was no doubt she was mighty good-looking girl. She'd need to know self-defense with creepy, torturous men in the castle for sure.
Her eyes got a little wide, but the grin was even wider. Getting taught how to fight by a super hero? The coolest thing ever. "Deal!" she replied, returning his handshake. Even if her hand was significantly smaller then his, she did her best to return the handshake as best she could.
Where to start? There was a lot to be covered. Form, for starters. A lot ran through his mind. Then, at speeds so high he would have appeared to teleport to Maya, he moved to stand behind her and put his hands on her shoulders so they were both facing the dummy.
"Your form, or lack thereof, is throwing your balance off. That was the first thing I noticed." He stepped back, taking his hands off her small shoulders. "Start with separating your feet so they're shoulder-width apart."
She blinked and he was gone. She started for a moment, "How did you-" oh... that's why he was called the Flash. She even let out an "oh" of understanding, and moved on to concentrating on what he was saying.
Spreading feet apart? Well that seemed counter productive, but he was the expert, so she did so and even bent her knees a little bit out of instinct. "Like this?"
"That's about right, yeah. If your feet are too far or too close, you'll have a hard time keeping balance and being able to readily move your feet at will." He stepped back, and nodded. "Yup, like that."
Then he moved to the front of her, facing her. "Alright, I'll teach you how to throw a punch." He grabbed her hands and brought one to her chin, and the other slightly in front of the other and angled. "Ball your fists. Turn slightly to the right so your right foot is behind your left." He took a step back. "Now step forward, and throw your weight into the punch." He exposed his chest and stomach. "Hit me in the stomach."
She nodded intently, and listened to everything he said. It made her nervous for some reason (just thinking about actually fighting... it's not like it was something she wanted to do) but she did her best to push that stuff to the back of her mind, and focus on punching. Punching? She couldn't just punch him in the gut!
"But, what if... isn't that what the dummy is for? I can't hit you."
"The dummy doesn't know how to defend itself. You'll hit it everytime. You'll never learn your flaws and weak spots that way." He flexed his abs. "Hit me. Trust me, I've been hit with a city bus. Your tiny little fist will tickle."
He placed his hands behind his head, seeming relaxed.
Oh god, oh god.... She does as he instructed, and punches forward. However it ends up just being another show of her inexperience. She closes her eyes as she does it, and flinches slightly at first. After her fist makes connection she opens her eyes again, and almost seems to realize what she did.
He burst into laughter, and patted her on the back. It had to have been the most pathetic - and adorable - thing he'd ever seen. He collected himself and cleared his throat. Then he turned and faced the dummy. "Stand back," he motioned her away
( ... )
She shot him a look. She knew she was bad but still... No need to laugh like that. She quickly shuffled out of the way as she watched his demonstration. While he gave specific instructions she followed his motions, kind of getting what he was trying to say.
"Okay, I think I-" woah, woah! She kind of looked stunned for a moment, but it didn't take very long for her inner fangirl to take over. "That was so cool!"
What is she trying to do? She doesn't look like much of a fighter.
There was something endearing about her attempting, and he chuckled as he made his way over at a normal pace as to not frighten her.
"Excuse me? Hi. I'm The Flash... are you alright?"
