The Doctor walks slowly down the corridor; he'd like to rush, but he knows it would be foolish. The stalled Toxaemia continues to take its toll, and he doesn't want to be pained and tired when he sees Peri.
No; he wants to be cheerful, vibrant, reassuring. She's clearly been through quite a lot - really, she already had...
"And there's no use dwelling on it," he says firmly as he enters the elevator, pressing the buttons defiantly with his weak, reddened hand.
He waits impatiently, pacing the small space, pondering what he'll say, what he'll do, worrying the words like a starved dog with a new bone.
Then he's there, and he's approaching her door, and he's knocking (with his good hand; the other remains in his pocket) with a faint, hopeful smile.
