It didn't occur to Sora until he was on the fourth floor that he could have just looked at the numbers on the doors around his own to figure out what floor he was on...he'd headed downstairs to just start from the lobby and work his way up to the eighth floor when he spied someone leaving their room and noted the number on the door was in the 400s. Then he felt foolish. Hurrying back up four flights of stairs to the eighth floor then, he found room 806 and lifted a hand to knock, his whole face lit up in a bright smile.
Kairi was here! And even if it was lame that they were kinda stuck in this place, at least they were stuck together. He'd spent so long just trying to find her that the idea of being lost with her was...amazing. Wherever they were--whatever this place was, surely it wouldn't be so bad if Kairi was around.
He froze suddenly, realizing he was about to knock on a girl's door and he hadn't brought a gift. ...Wasn't that how things were supposed to go? When you went to visit someone--especially when it was a joyous reunion like this--you were supposed to bring a gift. And Kairi was a girl! So he had to do something!
Maybe there were some flowers in the castle courtyard. Flowers were a pretty good present for a girl, right? Like...most girls liked flowers didn't they?
And so Sora ran all the way back down to the first floor and outside, finding a few daisies growing in bright golden patches along the high stone walls of the castle. He plucked half a dozen and tied them together with one of the ribbon accessories he had in his hip-pouch. He never wore the silly thing, useful as it was; he just couldn't quite shake the feeling of that ridiculous dress Flora, Fauna, and Merriweather had put him in for laughs back in Yen Sid's tower when he wore it. And so on the flowers it went!
And back up to the eighth floor Sora went! By the time he made it back to Kairi's room he was a bit winded, but it was all good. Seven flights of stairs was good exercise, after all! Lifting his hand, he rapped his knuckles sharply against Kairi's door and then waited, bouncing slightly with excitement.
